It's not a particular putter. It's how it is held, or 'anchored' that will be illegal. What's even funnier is they feel they need to wait 3 years before enforcing the new rule to give the newly declared cheaters time to adapt I guess.

I understand the anchoring into your stomach being banned - don't agree with it, but it makes sense. But how is anchoring something from an "anchor point created by your forearm" any different then just holding it?

the rules mention "free swing" over and over. I guess that what they want.

Anchored putting has been around for decades. Only after a couple of guys who use anchored putters won majors did the golf gods start to freak out about it. I started using a long putter this year because my back has been killing me, and I can say that the advantage you get from using one is negligible. If there's such a huge difference, wouldn't everyone use one?

    Stupid.

Apparently, the golf gods prefer the look of freely swinging putters.

If they really want to reign in the equipment, they should take a look at oversized drivers and new balls. Par 5s wither and die before touring pros these days. A driver and a 5 iron is all they need for a 550 yard hole.

Got hate in your heart, let it out.

Never understood the belly putter. Thought it was for old fat guys that couldn't bend over.

Well, I guess most golfers are old and fat.

I still have my "big" Bertha from like 1998. That thing is as big as the 5 woods now.

Long putters are for people who can't putt. Professionals should not be allowed to use them. Ill stick with my simple Wilson 8802.

Agree here totally. Drivers are obscenely big. Go back to 20 years ago sizes.
And every player should use the exact same ball. What sport allows different balls for different players?

I like that idea. Balls should be distributed to players at every tournament.

    +1

If I used this method though, I would be sure to anchor my putter against my gonads in protest until 2016 rolls around.

I never understood why there needs to be the same exact rules for pros and amateurs. The pros should have a limit on head size, putting stroke, etc. And some golf rules are overly punitive as well. Hitting 3 from the tee when your drive is OB is overly harsh on most every 15+ handicapper. Also makes for really slow rounds.

    I have solved this problem.

    I don't keeep score anymore.

    I love this:

Father in law: "What did you get?"

    Me: "I have no idea.

FIL: " I think you got an 8."

    Me: "OK"

    Drives him nuts.
