My bank account is showing an extra 6,800 whole month now ???

What's the deal is this a trap. Its in savings too not checking or a credit card account. Ive checked the statements a thousand times i thought today for sure it would be gone when my direct deposit goes in which im checking now. But the deposit went through again and the Other 6,800 over a month ago is still sitting there. Do i take it? Who's a banker here.

Hey it could be a mistake but a well timed mistake...Why say anything if its not your fault...its savings so its sitting there and if its gone after a month or two ask the bank what happened just dont touch it till then...

If you're not supposed to have it the bank will pretty quickly be onto it in my experience.Give it a day or two

It's hush money, or some kind of slush fund.

Probably but banks have tens of millions of dollars in unknown funds.

I had a client once who got 15K like this. Never was discovered.

A year or so went by and he just withdrew it.

The prince from Mozambique whose fortune you got out of the country finally sent your cut, eh?

And you should send me the 6800 for safe keeping. I'll give you the details for my secret illegal offshore account.

Happened to me once with an even $25,000. Like an idiot I called after a few days to ask what it was. No real answer and then a few days later it disappeared. Always wondered what really happened there.

My brother, a probation officer, has this guy who reports to him that found $30,000 in his bank account from out of nowhere. The guy and his wife are very religious and just assumed the money was "a gift from the Lord". Of course, they went and spent the Lord's gift in its entirety and, when found out by the bank, couldn't repay it. That's why the poor soul now has to report in to my brother regularly. I don't know what the actual charge or sentence was, but you would think the bank would at least share some culpability in this.

I cashed in $1,000 savings bonds and they put in as $10,000.

A week later they fixed it.

    legally, it's theirs.

Agreed..but I am telling you without a doubt, I did a LOT of banks when I was in NY (Chase, Chemical, JP Morgan etc..) they all have a HUGE fund of unknown deposits/payments etc...).

There is absolutely a chance you never get caught. It is fraud and a felony but just sayin.

Pull it out, and close the account. Possession is 9/10ths of the law.

It's clearly a mistake. They credited your account with MY deposit. I'll send you a PM as to where to mail the check.

Btw, this happens all the time in Italy.
