Help me make sausage & peppers

    I don't cook; I try, but I hate it.

Ive scheduled a home invasion this weekend and I'm making some of the food.

Best way to make sausage & peppers?

    Go.

    First you need a pig.

Next. A good place for a garden.

    Grilled link is easy.

I prefer bulk ground Italian, make a thin patty, and fry it up in a pan. Use a sweet onion and sautee' with red and green peppers and put on a nice kaiser.

    For the beginner?

Step #1: Go to your local high-tier Mega-Foodmart, and procure yourself one to three bottles of your favorite ultra-premium sauce, 2-4 each of red peppers, green pepper and 1-2 large onions (I like vidalia for it's sweetness). Suggest less spicy and more basic sauces, as the veg and sausage are the stars here.

Step #2: On the way home, stop by your local Italian Butcher and aquire yourself an appropriate amount of Hot/Sweet Italian Sausage. I prefer hot.

Step #3: In a frying fan, give the sausages (whole/thawed) a quick browning on all sides. They will not be cooked through, only some carmelization on the outsides.

Step #4: In a large pot, combine sauce, slices pepper and onions, and browned sausage. Simmer for a few hours (minimum till the vegetation is nicely soft and pliant, as you'd expect).

Step #5: Serve with pasta and/or crusty bread.

It's not elite by far, but any doofus can do it, and it comes out great every time.

No joke, find a great Italian salumeria/pork store near your home. Ask them if they cater sausage and peppers (and anything else you need).
If so, agree on the price and order.

Ohh Man, I know what I am having tonight, calling the wife to pick up the stuff now.

Italian sausage can be made plain or with tomatoes, great either way.

Dice up some sausage, as frying up in a pan, with some extra virgin olive oil, your start to add some sweet onions and red and green peppers, you can add yellow as well, remeber onions will cook faster than the peppers. Add salt & Pepper, not allot of salt, sausage is salty enough and you can actually get a way without, add some Italian seasoning. Throw in a little water, I like to replace with chicken broth and let simmer stirring once in a while for about 15-20min, or until the onions and peppers are soft and sausage completely cooked.

If you want to kick it up, add some shredded chicken breast, almost as much of the sausage, "Lightly" Dredge the chicken in flour, brown the chicken, sausage, with the onions peppers and Italian seasoning in the frying pan with olive oil. Once browned take all out and set aside, de-glaze the pan starting with red wine for about a min and then add chicken broth. after a few min add the chicken and sausage back in and some diced or crushed plum tomatoes. Now use salt and pepper to taste and let simmer covered for 15-20 min, if too wet let simmer down uncovered, if too thick add more broth. serve over rice.

Forgot the Garlic, always add Garlic at the browning point or before.

Can't give you measurements, have to go by feel

Enjoy, i know I will, hope it works out

Grill them till they are almost perfect then mix a little honey, soy sauce and grain mustard and pour over before finishing them off on the the grill briefly

    Don't bother with the peppers

Also make sure they are high quality sausages

Perfect beginners recipe. And depending on the invaders, he could combine step 2 with 1, if he's ok with supermarket sausage.

    Sausage & Peppers?

that's what Things and Shakin are calling their sleepover

No self repecting chef ever uses green peppers in his sausage and peppers.

    Yellow peppers are acceptable though.

Onions and peppers should be sauteed in olive oil in a seperate pan.

I bake mine. I also bake the sausage halfway then fry em till completion.

I thought Jets Things was bringing his sausage over there already?!
