Since it was all because of the weight room, I'm assuming it's nothing srs. Just Rex giving the guy a semi-hard time for his own good.

Coples needs to be coaxed to perform to his potential. The knock on him in college was his complacency

We'll see how he responds. Not sure if there is a positive spin to this. It is the NFL, you shouldn't need any motivation.

They're in the most physically and mentally demanding position in their life thus far, if you don't think players need motivation to give 100% effort all day every day then your kidding yourself.

Ever hear of bulletin board material? Ever watch Jim harbaugh scream his face off on the sideline at his players? Those locker room speeches? It's all for motivations sake.

I agree with you. But the great ones don't need motivation. And this was the book on Coples coming out of college. This is also the second straight year where his coaches have called him out. He is a very talented player but he has some dog in him. Plain and simple.

Rex did something Similar with Kerley last year. He was so down on him, people actually speculated he might get cut.

Season rolls around and Kerley is our best offensive player in the skill positions.

Hopefully this is just Rex doing something similar - pushing a guy he expects a lot from to maximise his talents.
