    Thumbs down #firecimini

As if we didn't have enough reasons to hate this chump -

Most likely a public diss as his ESPN co-hort, Jane McManus, who had a couple of articles run on 5/11:

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jet...ractice-report

    http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/jet...k-oday-aboushi

Of course he probably called her work 'sh1t' because she doesn't seem to sensationalize her articles with all of the crap that he does.

    Unreal.

so in my company he first needs a counseling session, three check rides, then a review by HR...if he still gets the pink he's entitled to three review meetings with higher and higher ups each meeting...then a state mediator or judge to determined how long he can stay on health plan...followed by an eeoc lawyer to determine his ethnicity and possible bias...

Unforunately you're probably right....however there have been many casualties of 'death by Twatter' so let's all hope he would get fired. I doubt it though.

Pretty sad that this chump is the best ESPN has to offer as far as a 'journalist' covering a NFL franchise in the #1 media market.

Equally as disgraceful as the "Kendrick Ellis is a druggie" tweet.

I'm in the minority here. Cimini has never bothered me and I have been reading him since he came on the beat. That being said he used to be very negative. He has improved his reports in the last year.

It seems as if he is at least on some type of time out since his last tweet was yesterday. Lots of Jet news today and nothing from him.

I'm with you. He shoots straight from the hip, so what? He doesn't use anonymous sources and has probably has more institutional knowledge about the team than the other beat reporters.

That said, it doesn't seem good for him that he's been silent since that infamous tweet. It's nothing short of a mess for espn if the target of the tweet was indeed his coworker.

He's a slimeball - it's like politics, if you can't see that for yourself I'll never convince you.

It bothers me, HE bothers me and I've wanted him gone for a decade. I'm shocked this guy still has a job. All the talented kids out there that would love to be a beat writer for an NFL team and somehow this guy gets these plum gigs. It's not like he has an iota of in depth football knowledge. 90% of this board knows more about the game than this pro football writer. He's a miserable sad sack and I can't wait for the day that someone with power over his job realizes how poor quality his material is.

lol @ Cimini calling anyone else **** at their job. Cimini's work is rivaled only by that of the great TMZ.

Exactly. The real circus is the media and the fans, not the team.

Straight from the hip implies that the person "tells it like it is" with little regard for sensationalism or sensibilities. Might want to re-think your opinion of Cimini with that in mind, especially with regards to the sensationalism part. The guy is a figurative walking thesaurus of negativity when it comes to the Jets.

I do think he mainly tells it like it is and when you haven't won a Super Bowl in 40+ years, there's going to be plenty of negativity. Again, so what? Is that really worse than Mehta's circus perpetuating stories premised on quotes from anonymous sources from the past two years? I think not. Are fluff pieces really a better alternative? No way -- and if you disagree try reading some of the work of Miami's homer, inferiority complex driven beat writers.

And for those of you who think he's easily replaceable, you can't simply replace his historical knowledge of the team and contacts within the organization. Maybe Cannizarro could step in for him, but I can't think of many others.

Look, I'm by no means a Cimini apologist, but I do think his detractors have gotten seriously carried away with all this bashing. If you want to read fluff pieces, follow Steiny; if you want to be angry at someone in the media, direct it at Mehta.
