Thread: Best New York Jets: All-Time Fan Favorite Version

  1. #41
I'm just going to sit here and waste my time making a team of my favorite Jets today:

    Offense:
    QB: Favre, Vinnie
    FB: Richie A, T-Rich
RB: Neon Leon, Every single backup until they become starters (I've bemoaned every one of our starting RBs since the mid-90s...this is the first year I'm legitimately excited for a running game.)
WR: Bray, Chrebecht, JK, JCotch, Chansi
OL: D'Brick, Faneca, Mangold (Reserve: Mawae), Brandon Moore, Kareem McKenzie

    Defense:
DL: Abraham, KJenks, Ferguson, Hugh Douglas, Shaun Ellis
LB: Maybin, Harris, Vilma, Hobson, Barton
DB: Revis, AGlenn, Victor Green, Ray Mickens, Tongue, Coleman, LaRon (LOVE my CBs).

    ST:
    K: Folk...**** Doug Obrien
    P: Ben Graham
KR/PR: Chad Morton, Leon W., The Ghost of Dave Megget's past

Clearly I'm not as old as some of you old farts

Lance Mehl - Forever on the top of my list for saving the Jets bacon in the January '83 playoffs vs the Raiders with not one but two INTs.

Also, Riggins (what could have been!), Derrick Gaffney, Joe Fields, Dan Alexander, Mickey Shuler, and Bruce Harper

Thanks for clarifying that, I'm glad you didn't say Dennis Byrd post-injury.

Thomas Jones was awesome for this team. That guy was a warrior.

    I was a big fan of a lot of this team's RB's.

    Hector, McNeil, Murrell, Martin.

    Mawae was awesome.

    Aaron Glenn.

I thought this thread was for the off the run guys, thus precluding the Curtis Martins of Jets history?

I always like Darrol Ray, he made some huge plays during down years
Mike Augustiniak ran like a beast during his short career
Dennis Bligen because he was a great guy and played at SJU

" It's impossible to make a 'couple of bad throws' after throwing two couples of interceptions." Ben Shpigel - NY Times
I just spit water all over my monitor.

That is freaking great. Sorry it's off topic.

If we're talking about guys that are lesser known then:

Leon Johnson was an amazing special teams guy.

    So was Ihedigbo.

Erik MacMillan was a Pro Bowler and really effing good.

The lesser WRs of the 80 and early 90's.

I'm talking Kurt Sohn and JoJo Townsell. Loved these guys.

    I'm surprised i haven't seen a Lageman sighting.

My first Jersey was a mesh Freeman McNeil, and then a mesh black Lageman.

    Honorable mention Brad Baxter.

To me, Lageman wasn't fun to watch. Then he went to the Jaguars and that was the end of that..
