Nonsense. This is a cover up for the fact that no one would pay his price and even the Bears had moved on after offering him 2 million. If he really felt that way he would have retired after last year and before trying to sell his wares around the league. A pure save face comment. His clarity came when the league told him he was too old and didn't have anything left, not when he told the league.

He's been washed up and injured for a while.

The Bears have known this, but we should sign him.

I never said that he would have retired if someone offered him what he wanted. He probably tested the market and recognized the situation.

Good for him. He'd rather be retired, having played for one team, than hang on and play for the vet min somewhere else.

And I bet he'd gladly hang on if a team were willing to invest in him a larger and more prohibitive portion of their cap. Let's not paint this (even thinly) in nobility.

The guy was one of the best defensive players of all time. He had a Monday night game a few years ago with domination only Lawrence Taylor was capable of.

Putting Urlacher on this Jets team would be like putting Jimmy Page in Bon Jovi.
Urlacher in this freak show would be tragic.....and he's not that dumb anyway.

Urlacher is one of my all-time favorite players. That said, he's lost a few steps at this point. He isn't the same player anymore. And with the youth movement we're moving towards (correctly, IMO), I wouldn't want the Jets to sign him.

    A few years ago??????????

That game was 2006 (the Dennis Green "Crown their ass game"). That's 7 years ago. That's a lifetime in the NFL.
