It was worse than driving around. Weren't they both passed out in the left lane of Route 80? Pretty crazy stuff.

What would the grounds for cutting him be - having bad/dumb friends?
Does Idzik strike you as a guy who is goin to have the wool pulled over his eyes?

No way he buys it that Goodson was an innocent passenger clueless to the contents of the car.

He has grounds to be cut on character issue alone IMO.

    True dat.

And he wasn't trying to bring it to the stadium. So there's that going for him.

    Well...he's an idiot.

But guys, this whole thing about hollow points is retarded. Hollow points are the best defensive round. I would be more concerned if they were full metal jackets. Don't be drawn into the media demonizing of guns and ammo. Some of you don't even know what a hollow point bullet is or what it does.

Goodson, will most likely be gone. Unless he can prove the gun was not his, then all he really has is the pot possession.

That being said...do we have any options on the FA market right now?

Its a big assumption yes.... but do you really think this is the first time he's hung out with an ex-con? That they just met earlier in the day at the ice cream parlor and went for a joyride that night?

Its not a stretch to think he's associated with bad dudes in the past - now if that's not a red flag to the front office, that's fine; Im sure they have criteria for what's acceptable and whats not, since no ones a choir boy these days.

But bombed, possession, associating with felons, gun w/ hollow points in the car... its enough to legitimately question how much due diligence the front office and security team did.

If the gun was out in plain sight, and it is reasonable Goodson knew the gun was there in the car, then both can be charged with possession. NJ has strict laws regarding how fire arms can be transported, and if the gun was out in plain sight and the bullets were near by then yes Goodson can be charged even if the owner claims it is his gun.
From what has been reported thus far (and obviously it can change) - it appears that a search of the car revealed the weapon. We have to wait for the facts to play out, but it doesn't sound like the gun was on the dashboard.

At the end of the day, unless Goodson is fondling his buddy's weapon or sitting in the cup holder, the weapon's charge against Goodson will probably not stick.

    But, we'll see.

He kind of does, actually. I did not think so at first, either, but now you have Garrard out with a bum knee, which was evident to 31 other teams in the NFL, and then the second instance of guys getting busted with drugs and weapons in two months.

and you think any background check would show an association with known felons? Doubt it. Highly possible that every background check comes back clean.

I agree with the above paragraph. It should be investigated what kind of due diligence they conducted. But it's just dumb to assume that they didn't do a sufficient check. And that's what bleed green was implying as though it were fact.

In NJ a gun that is simply not concealed in a case is considered out in the open. NJ law states you can not transport a fire arm with out it being in case and the bullets can not be in the same compartment as the gun unless it is locked in the trunk. Meaning if my gun is the passenger compartment the bullets must be in the trunk.

It's not unreasonable to conjure bad due diligence practices from two instances of drugs and weapons possession arrests for players that Idzik signed.

you can never again try to make a valid argument when you said " Herm's 9-7 3way tie for the division title despite being 1 and done in the playoffs is more of a accomplishment than making it to two AFCCGs "

Geno was a steal at 39, that's why its a great pick.. You never can tell about qbs you have to wait and see. Alex smith, Russel, Sanchez, ect were picked high but were huge busts.. But nabbing Geno at 39 regardless is a good pick, especially when Jets almost took him at #13.
