I Love Baseball but the yr takes too long. Baseballplayoffs should start wen the nfl preseason starts but they play on another 40+ gms... WHY? Look good teams in NL
Thank god these dip ****s are playing in the burgh.
Go get Em ch AH r-l ee!
Pirates hitters have forgotten how to hit the baseball.
Have the Pirates dropped out of first yet?
They have a 1 gm lead on the Cards. The pirates had a 5 gm lead a wk or two ago.. Slipping away!
I see a Chicago Cub moment coming on. BTW I would love to see the Bucs in there instead of the Cardinals.
Liriano to the rescue. They have to realize that he can only pitch every 5th day. Someone needs to step up.
75-52 Clint hurdle's prediction of 95 wins this year was laughed at hysterically around here. Barring another collapse, he may have the last laugh.

Russell Martin could throw out out anyone. Thank u Yankees for not offering anything to this guy.
Pirates Pitchers are getting it back in!
Martin throwing guys out like its his job! Unbelievable pick up. Huge difference from last year behind the plate.
Pirates take flight with Byrd!
Pirates finally got a RF with some pop. All of a sudden the Pirates have a lot of OF's
Kent Rosenthal is reporting that the player to be named later in the Marlon Byrd/John Buck trade with the Pirates is righthander Vic Black.
Earlier this week, Marlon Byrd and John Buck were sent to Pittsburgh for second baseman Dilson Herrera and a player to be named later (plus some cash). Now the player to be named later has been determined, and according to Ken Rosenthal, it is pitcher Vic Black. The righty appeared in three games for the Pirates this season but spent most of his time with triple-A Indianapolis, where he racked up 63 Ks in 46 2/3 IP while logging an ERA of 2.51.
Black presents a somewhat odd situation, trade-wise, since Pittsburgh placed him on waivers. However, per Rosenthal, if Black is claimed by some other team, the Pirates can pull him back and send him to the Mets at the conclusion of the season, rather than right now. So it seems sooner or later, the Mets will acquire him.
Steve Sypa wrote up a look at Herrera, who MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo dubbed the Pirates' 11th best prospect at the start of the season. At midseason, Black was considered that system's 15th best farmhand. There's a lengthy look at Black at MLB.com here, along with some brief video (short on game action, sadly). While it's hardly Beltran-for-Wheeler, and conceding that all minor leaguers' mileage vary, getting a team's #11 and 15 prospects for one month of Byrd and Buck is an impressive haul.
Vic black has an arm, that's for sure. However, the buccos are loaded with arms in their system.
