Geno. I want him to be the clear winner by the end of camp. If it close or there is some questions about Geno then I say go with Sanchez until he sh**s the bed. My concern with Geno is our lack of offensive weapons. If and when Holmes is back to 100% I would be more comfortable with Geno taking over.

Why would anyone want Sanchez to be the opening day starter?

He's done here, drafting Geno says they want someone else going forward. So the best case scenario is that Geno plays well and wins the starting job then continues to play well and we have our starting QB for the next 10 or so years.

Beats the hell out of having to draft another QB down the road.

Bigger question, why is this thread on the board twice?

For me Sanchez to give Smith time to watch before going in.
IMO anyone who says that is a Sanchez fan just looking for an excuse. I am a Jets fan and want whoever gives the TEAM the best chance at winning! I hope the QB competition is fair and I have my doubts about REX being able to do that! We have seen him tilt it before in camp and I think he will again. Idzik just might cringe and stop him in his tracks.

If you say Sanchez, then you really are the glass is half empty sort of person.
Who is to say that Smith can't be every bit as good as Russell Wilson was in his first year.

    That's the point.

100% chance Ryan is gone in January.

70% chance Morningweig isn't retained by the new head coach in March.

Keep Geno clean and happy on the sidelines, let him learn, let him get used to the NFL, let him get decent reps in practice. In 2014 when we have a new HC and a new OC, Geno comes in. Clean first year, clean slate.

Let Sanchez take the beatings, the mind-fu-ks, and spin his wheels on learning his third offensive system in three years. Spare the rookie the unnecessary pain.

Wouldve liked Garrard, but now I think Geno is the guy especially with the news that the Jets were very interested in Hoyer. Shows no confidence in 6.

Hoping for Sanchez to start the season just so Geno can learn is a second or third best case scenario. We should all want Geno to learn in OTAs and TC and win the competition and prove that he is a starting QB. That is the best case scenario. All scenarios involving Sanchez starting should be backup plans.
Totally agree. I'm still holding out hope that Idzik will wave a magic wand and trade Sanchez for a serviceable veteran. I can't watch #6 as
our starter for even one play.

Hopefully we can pick up a vet that gets released in TC to back up Smith

Then we can cut Buttfumble6 and be rid of his stinking turnovers

I don't understand how Jet fans having been through the inept way Sanchez was developed want to rush another "raw" QB into the starting job.

If Geno is all that many here proclaim 1/2 year to a year learning the NFL game will do him wonders.

I get that people here despise Sanchez for the horrid year last year and want him gone. In reality they should be hating what our front office, HC & offensive staff did to a similiarly promising raw QB. Let's not repeat that mistake - Sanchez starts and Geno wiats in the wings gaining valuable knowledge.
