LI crime and police reports A West Babylon man pleaded not guilty Tuesday morning to an indictment charging him with stabbing his older brother to death during an argument over beer.
John Beaumont, 54, is charged with second-degree murder in the death last week of his brother Thomas, 57. Assistant District Attorney Glenn Kurtzrock said Beaumont stabbed his brother once in the chest and once in the neck after Thomas apparently drank most of the beer in the house, and then called 911.
Beaumont told both the 911 operator and the police officer who arrived at the scene what he had done, Kurtzrock said.
"He loves his brother," said his attorney, Richard Stafford. "He would never intentionally kill his brother. They were supposed to go camping this weekend."
Suffolk County Court Judge Barbara Kahn ordered Beaumont held without bail.
Most awkward funeral ever.
Justifiable homicide, no?
The guy died; this thread will get locked quick if tastelessness ensues.
That said; wtf - maybe he was trying to get the beer out.
This would never happen in Nassau county. Bunch of hop-hungry savages in Suffolk.
He would never intentionally kill his brother. He only wanted to get back at him for drinking his beers.
What happened to noogies?
Maybe it's the same guy who stabbed his homey for hogging all the V in a threesome?
I miss the days when neck-stabbing was a socially acceptable form of conflict resolution.
Another low life not thinking of anyone but himself off the list, couple Mil to go.
would suspect Gary Moore if not dead.
From the Newsday online comment section on this story:
"I don't always kill my brother over beer...
...but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis."
