Anonymous Jet Says Sanchez Should Be Benched

    http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap100...ts-locker-room

Brace yourselves: The anonymous Jet has struck again. His target? Mark Sanchez.
CBSSports.com's Mike Freeman talked with yet another unnamed New York Jets player who told him this week, "Everyone on the team likes Mark personally but there's a general feeling among some of the players that maybe it's time to give someone else a chance."
The masked source estimated that 80 to 90 percent of the roster agrees. Naturally, none of the players have gone on record with that sentiment.
Sanchez struggled through a disastrous Wednesday practice lowlighted by three interceptions and general chaos, a display coach Rex Ryan classified as "unacceptable" and a "disappointment."
The miscues conjure up Sanchez's 52 turnovers over the past two seasons, a statistic tied to the quarterback's fierce tumble from grace in Florham Park. Granted, Sanchez was without wideouts Santonio Holmes or Stephen Hill on Wednesday, but so was rookie Geno Smith (who, if you're keeping score, threw one pick of his own on a day that saw neither passer flourish).
The Jets have spoken optimistically about wrapping up the team's quarterback competition prior to training camp. That won't come easy, because Sanchez -- to be fair -- is still learning the team's new West Coast attack while Smith is still learning where the breakroom is.
Sanchez would benefit from a fresh start, but it doesn't matter what his unnamed teammates think: New York isn't about to part ways with the veteran -- still guaranteed a bundlle of cash -- until they're certain Smith can steer them out of the abyss.
    Here we go again...

Geno Smith really shouldn't be speaking with reporters off the record.

It's taken this guy and this team this long to figure out that Snackchez should be benched? Talk about being two years late and a dollar short.

    Excellent

This really is unsurprising based on 2012's performance. Of course I can think of many offensive players from the 2012 roster who should never set foot on the field again in green.

Oh please no, not again with the anonymous jet comments.

there are a lot of guys on the team who want to win and know it won't happen if he's the qb. it's their careers too, they want to win.

Everyone knows Sanchez can't play....probably even Mark if he's honest with himself. Too bad...nice kid but can't play in the league with any sustained success. It must be very tough for him even with all of that money.

    Folks,
Why do you think they tried to get Manning in here. There is so much that goes on behind closed doors that neither we as fans or the media pukes know a damn thing about.
Yet, it should be clear to all by now that Mark's days in a Jets uniform are coming to an end.
Don't mean to sound like a broken record, but if the Jets give up a draft pick to bring in a competent veteran who knows Marty's system and has started in it, well that will be be the last nail in the Sanchez era.
I take no pleasure in that either, because it has been a wasted four years. An if the leak is to believed, then the players feel there windows are closing as well.

"Sanchez struggled through a disastrous Wednesday practice lowlighted by three interceptions and general chaos, a display coach Rex Ryan classified as "unacceptable" and a "disappointment."

This is complete BS totally conflicts with everything published and Rex's presser that is posted on the Jets site now. Rex actually said a lot of good things happened but the turnovers were unacceptable, for both QBs.

There was no mention of general chaos anywhere that I saw.

The anonymous jet should put his name on it otherwise he is a coward and who wants a coward as a team mate.

All reports were that Geno's INT was on the receiver, who deflected it to defender, for what it's worth. No matter how you slice it, 3 INTs in eleven total passses for Mark ain't gonna cut it.

The Jets player is absolutely right, but this was a stupid move. I don't see Idzik as a manager who will tolerate this type of behavior.

The sentiment of the comments is undeniable. Look no further than the Arizona game from last season. Three quarters of the most putrid quarterbacking and least effective offense I've ever witnessed. Exit Sanchez, enter McElroy, and suddenly the team has life.

While judging from the first day of OTA's is a bit off, the fact that Sanchez threw another pick to a 350 lb lineman behind the LOS is sickening. Those are the most ridiculous picks imaginable, and he probably had a half-dozen of those last season alone.
