=Nice Call on " Run Silent Run Deep", i had forgotten that. One of the best submarine movies.

    - Any one Remember, " the Enemy Below, " with robert mitchum and Curt Jurgens as opposing ship captains.? The underwater cinematography was well ahead of its time and it won some awards for it.

Also, PATTON, THE LONGEST DAY, PATHS OF GLORY, THE HILL, HELL IS FOR HEROES; BATTLE CRY, MIDWAY, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN; AND ANYONE REMEMBER " THE BEDFORD INCIDENT ".... A COLD WAR GEM.

Ah yes, George Peppard as a nasty, egomaniacal WWI flyer. And yes it does have Ursula too.

    Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo
    Gallipoli
    Battle of Algiers
    Bridge at Remagen
    Tobruk

    Just to name some more...

I can't believe no one has mentioned Red Dawn (Patrick Swayze version). What a great movie. Never get tired of watching it.

    No mention of Schindler's List?

Also, The Pianist is another fine movie.

And as many recs here aren't WW2 movies that the Op was asking about, but movies that revolve around "war" in some way, I'll add Hotel Ruwanda.

+ 1 to Hotel Rwanda. If you're going to add that, though, then you need to add The Killing Fields and Salvadore.

Another one I really like is Attack!, which the Pentagon refused to endorse because it didn't reflect well on the Army:

    That's because it's a fantasy movie

I actually really like that movie, but when they're on the bus being chased by the Germans, ask yourself -- where are they storing all that ammunition? They empty an arsenal the size of the Pentagon on the Nazis. It's like they have an endless supply. LOL.

Kingdom of Heaven? Yeah, the Crusaders get crushed by Saladin. The future battles between Saladin and Richard the Lionheart were legendary. Richard was quite the siege engineer. Not a light-weight.
