    Manish - out!

@TheBigLead: Jets fans - same NYDN peeps who told me Hoops Weiss was laid off are saying @MMehtaNYDN is moving off NY Jets beat. New role will be [1of2]

@TheBigLead: 'NFL Insider' (w focus on big-picture Jets stuff) probably similar to Bedard's old role @ Globe. Finally, a good NFL columnist there [2of2]

It's funny how quickly fans turned on him. I remember when he first started he was seen as a "breath of fresh air" around these parts.

Because when he first started he would only report actual news. Then he got caught up in the TMZ aspect of reporting and became complete garbage.

Guessing Seth Walder is taking over on the beat. He's no prize either.

It will always be the same, no matter who the press bring in, if they stick around long enough, the fans will eventually anger at their perceived cynicism and Jets bashing.

There is something so toxic about the Jets beat - I honestly think it's Cimini - after awhile they all become little troll versions of his constant snarkiness

What's the difference? Mehta still has a voice and will get his two cents in.

Manish @ Newark Star-Ledger = Breath of fresh air
Manish @ Daily News = Hack sensationalist

It's what the Daily News always wants. The Daily News is what made Cimini a turd. He was there far too long for him to change his colors now.

Then perhaps the general beef should be with Mort Zuckerman and his sports section editors instead of the reporters who're following their orders to keep their jobs at NYC's arguably highest profile paper in regards to sports?

    Misleading thread title. Ban-worthy.

Sounds like he is still covering the Jets to me. Might not be in Florham Park everyday but he will be focusing on 'big picture'. Does this mean he will be calling for Rex's head every week a la Gary Myers (Coughlin)?

We can only hope that the new writer fancies himself a journalist and not a gossip columnist.

    Either way good news.

So you noticed no change in his style of reporting when he went from the Star Ledger to the Daily News?

It's funny how quickly he turned on the Jets ...
