I have to wait till at least some preseason games to form a opinion.. The offense having massive problems in preseaon last year was a preview of things to come but each year begins anew that's how former 1-15 teams make 8-8 or in some cases much better..

    Great. Let's hope it happens.

But do I believe it based on our personnel? No. Again, I'd love to eat a heaping plate of roasted crow if we do better than my prediction (which is a 5-11 record, BTW).

Our defense will be much quicker and therefore better this year. But that won't make a difference if we go three and out and turn the ball over like we did last year. We need improvement from the QB and receiver positions. We likely will get this if Santonio and Hill stay healthy, Hayden Smith emerges as a contributor and, most importantly, Sanchez is kicked to the curb. I know it's a lot to ask from a rookie, but Smith, even if thrown to the wolves, is highly unlikely to be as bad as Sanchez has been.

We sured up the Offensive line and now have some depth there. We have Hill and Kerley who have to be better and Santonio will have some attitude comming off an injury. A new Offensive Coordinator that goes back to the great Walsh. Who knows but there is the potential to have great running game also.

If the Offense improves and we get lucky with injures, then we could make the playoffs. Rex's job is on the line and this will be a no nonsense TC and preseason. I choose to think this team can gain momentum as the year progesses and the players and system jell.

The opening premise is that the offence is better. Why? OL-no. TE-no. RB-better no maybe=. WR - no. QB-no.
And why is the defense better? Lots of unproven D players.
6-7 wins. Please look at the sked. Tougher than 2012.

At this point in time, I can see the team being no better than 6-10 again.

And actually if you think about it, it would follow the "Jets Luck" narrative.

Jets bomb this year, Ryan gets fired and they get a high draft pick.

So it would be just like the Jets to win 8,9 or 10 games, sneak into the playoffs, have Rex keep his job and they have a low first round draft pick.

It's like what happened to the Eagles in 1969 when they were aiming to draft OJ and they won their last couple of games.

The Colts were a complete embarassment two years ago -- 2-14 with an offense that was beyond pathetic.

The following year they had a new QB and a new offensive coordinator and they went 11-5.

I'm not expecting Geno to have a Luckesque rookie year, but Marty Mornhinweg has only had an offense not rank in the top half the league once in his career. We'll be better than people think.

I think we can win 9 games. I also expect Sanchez to play better then last year and Geno to get in some games and do well. I feel our strength will be due to the defense and fewer mistakes on Offense.

You know what the problem is with guys like Morningwig and Mangini and all these other unit leaders who work under a HC that is reknowned in their field ? How do you know if it was Morningwig or Reid who was running the offense.
When Sparano was hired as OC of the jets, everyone said it was because of his offense when he was the HC of the Dolphins. The problem with that assumption was Old Tony was the HC, but he didn't run the offense. After watching Tony as OC of the Jets, i can conclude that just about everyone now realize he didn't have a clue.

If Marty can somehow turn Sanchez around or groom Geno, I don't see why this team can't win 8-9 games. This team can thrive with 0 outside expectations.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOPdajBioY4 They really can with 8 or 9 games Damnit.

Yeah that dude sounds so dumb. I expect this time to be much improved from last year. The D will be out of the blocks early as is usual with Rexy's teams. The O will take a few games to hit its stride, but we have a talented OC for once and a retooled O esp rb's which should make things easier for whoever's at qb.

And when he had good offenses with the 49'ers as the OC that was all Steve Mariucci I suppose?? Number one rule as a Jet fan always look for the negative in any situation..

Every year I tell myself I'm not gonna let them pull me in, be realistic, don't have high expectations and I will avoid disappointment.

Soon as week one comes I totally believe we are a playoff team, and absolutely will not accept we are not until we are mathematically out of it.

Must be built into us as jet fans.
