Apologies but I couldn't care less about prostitution. I am more concerned with the heroin and prescription pills that are flooding our schools. But why go after those criminals when you can use the money to put up a few dozen more traffic cams.
Points well taken. Legalize prostitution, legalize stuff like marijuana. Unless associated with other crimes, make possession a mandated treatment sentence. Save prisons for crimes that harm others, not ourselves.

I don't disagree with anything you say.....other than the fact that we probably won't see stings like this for a long while. They made their point and will probably move on.....

In fact, its probably the best time to seek out a hooker....

And, I'm of two minds about prostitution. On one hand, I think it should be legal. Whether someone pays for sex is no business of mine as long as no one was coerced into providing said services. In fact, the human slave trade (the biggest issue surrounding prostitution) would probably be more easily dealt with if there was regulation of the industry.

OTOH, no one wants a bunch of hookers hanging around areas, businesses, etc. and that is what usually leads to stings like these - neighborhood complaints. Of course, legalization and regulation of the industry may very well handle this second issue as well.

Like the legalization of (some) drugs, its probably not as easy in practice to implement as in theory.

I am not advocating the legalization of anything. In fact I am against legalization of pot and hookers even though I have dabbled in both areas. Yes, I am a hypocrite.

Unless there is a serious problem like the example crash gave, I would rather have it be overlooked by law enforcement. If there are girls on street corners then it needs to be cleaned up. But if they are consenting adults and nobody is complaining and nobody is getting hurt then I don't see the problem. The majority of the hookers in this case were working out of hotels. I don't see why anyone would care about that. I doubt they were upscale hotels. They probably welcomed the business.

Admittedly, I haven't followed this case much but I would be interested in finding out how long the investigation took and how much it cost. All this time, money and effort only yielded misdemeanors. And how much is it going to cost to hear these cases in court? We are not talking about human trafficking and underage girls being sold as sex slaves.

There were no hookers in this case.

It was a sting operation. There were no hookers.

There was a covert advertisement on Craig's List. There were horny men who took the bait. There were cameras placed that recorded evidence. Dudes got f#cked.

It sucks. I don't agree with putting their names and photos out there at all. I think that's wrong. Unless you're going to post every shoplifter's photo, or photos of every fat chick who passes a bad check. there is no reason to post the photos of these men.

It's grandstanding by the DA. Nothing more, nothing less.

That sounds like a plan out of Dodge City. If you're going to look the other way, it's a lot better to license and regulate. Make them places of business that have to maintain hygiene and zoning rules. What's the down side? Somebody will have a good time? It's a major business. Public opprobrium hasn't done the least bit to curb it. Or soft drugs like marijuana. Again, I'd rather it be licensed and regulated than the current state of affairs. Nobody is winning in this situation. We just fool ourselves that we're doing something righteous.

    +1

What if the cops stood out on the corner pretending to be drug dealers and then busted every person who bought a nickel bag off of them?

I haven't followed this case all that closely either but I thought the basis for this investigation was on account of a number of complaints regarding prostitution in whatever hotel/motel was being used.

The reason they posted the photos was to serve as a deterrent - And, its a pretty good one at that. A lot of guys who would otherwise consider potentially responding to an ad will now think twice.

What was the ad for, an escort service? How did it advertise to identify itself as prostitution? Or was that something offered once the "John" showed up? Just curious how this works so I know how to avoid getting caught... not that I would ever stoop to such behavior...

I remember in the 80s. taking my college buddies from upstate NY down to 17th and Lex. Stopped the car, asked one of the ladies "How much for a BJ". In a moment, my car was surrounded by no less than 4 women.

I was laughing so hard at the amazement on the faces of my college buddies. They were from places like Rochester, Cobleskill and had never seen such a thing.

Point is.... go where the women are, ask the price and pick the one who least looks like a cop.

I have no problem with them posting the names and photos as a deterrent.

As long as they also post all the names and photos of every fat broad who tries to pass a bad check at the local Wal-Mart.

Wait a minute. You were just saying you had never done this before. Carlton was about to give you advice on how to go about it. Now YOU'RE giving me advice on how to pick up hookers? I might as well ask Southside, and I don't even know the poor shlub, except that he's a virgin, according to Timmy.

our local (arts) paper just did an expose' on asian massage parlors in the area.
the journalist visited four. i think we were supposed to feel sorry for the girls, but really the story just made me want to go to one of them.

"Candy drew the half-curtain in the doorway closed, dimmed the lights further, then got down to business. She was very friendly and talkative, originally from a town outside of Seoul, South Korea. She said she’d just arrived in Vermont a day earlier from Manhattan, where she’d lived for 10 years. I asked if she was more a city girl or country girl.

    “City girl,” she said, giggling.

I asked if she had a boyfriend back in New York City.

“No, you my boyfriend,” she said with a flirty smile.

Candy’s massage was athletic and rigorous. She sat on my ass, stretched my legs in all directions and deliberately pressed her breasts against my head several times. As a new employee, she said she’d work seven days a week, from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. for about a month before she gets a day off. She also claimed to live on site.

As I lay on my stomach with my arms draped over the sides of the table, Candy lifted my hands and planted them firmly on her thighs. Next, she asked if I wanted to see her breasts. When I smiled but said nothing, she removed her top and bra, then pulled down her pants.

She fingered her pink thong seductively and began pulling it lower, asking if I wanted to see more. I knew exactly what she was offering, and it sure as hell wasn’t foot reflexology. When I declined, she asked, “You shy guy?” then gripped my penis firmly with one hand and made it clear that everything was on the table, including her, if I wanted it."

And WalMart could certainly do that as a place of business at their discretion.

I look at it pretty black and white - these guys got caught breaking the law, and many of them, caught cheating on their wives in the process. They knew the potential risks and took em.

I personally agree its a lot of time, effort and money spent on something that I don't necessarily feel should be illegal, but I also find it hard to have a ton of sympathy when married dads risk humiliating their families.

I know it was a sting. But they were posing as hookers working out of a hotel. I should have been more clear.

Maybe that was the case. I would be interested in finding out who made the complaints. The hotel owner/managers or patrons. Just my opinion but I would think that as long as nobody was getting hurt and business wasn't getting hurt the hotel managers couldn't care less. Even upscale hotels have pros working the hotel bars.

You're probably right. I just wouldn't mind seeing selective enforcement. Let the small fish go. Focus on the drug lords and human traffickers. Let the pimply teen with an ounce go after you confiscate it. If some wannabe madam is working a few girls out of her house I don't see the harm in that.

There must have been a fight at the paper as to who is covering that story, huh?

a hard job, but someone had to do it

    ""Suzy""

"Near the end of the hour, she said, “Turn over.” When I did, she turned around and immediately grabbed my penis by the shank and started to massage it, too.

I was startled but not surprised. I pulled away, shook my head and said, “No, that’s OK. I’m married.” She apologized but remained otherwise stoic.

    ""Rose""

With seven minutes left in the hour, Rose told me to flip over, then immediately gripped my penis and began to rub it. When I shook my head and said, “No, that’s OK,” a range of emotions washed across her face, from confusion to embarrassment to fear. She apologized profusely.

I, too, apologized and felt terrible, reassuring her many times that I wasn’t a cop. She relaxed a bit but seemed chastened and unsure what to do next except help me dress. When I explained that I’m married, she said, “You good husband.”
