And also people act like Mangold said Smith sucked, he didnt!!

All he said is that Smith is a rookie, which he is, so what's the problem....

And some of you are so unprincipled and so Anti-Snachez, that since he Mangold says somthing positive about Sanchez, now he Mangold sucks too!!

You guys are have audacity to imply that you know more about professional football them Mangold, most of you don't know more than the typical JV High School coach about football!!! Good Grief!!!

To the OP thanks for posting these articles because it shows how each writer spun the facts to fit their specific agenda....
Sticking up for Sanchez and not geno ah not surprised the point is the correct thing is to say he will support whoever the coaches decide to start.. If you want to boost your boys confidence talk about how both are doing well ect.. Even though the truth is both aren't wowing the coaches. It's expected of geno, learning the nfl system.. Sanchez is gone next yr, he may not start this yr. the vets need to start welcoming geno more so they can develop a healthy chemistry. Instead of " you took my bff's job "

He's a football player, fully aware that the average career for a player is under 4 years. He doesn't want to use up the years he has left waiting on a kid QB. He doesn't say Smith cant come out winning, going deep into the playoffs, just figures the odds are against it.

Curious part is he talked more than Santonio but don't hear people calling for him to be cut, traded or beheaded.

I think everybody is missing the biggest thing that he said in that interview. He said, "and at this point, Mark gives us that best chance".

He didn't say that he fully believes Sanchez should start the first game of the season, he basically said Sanchez is the better option at this point. This is pretty much what we have heard all through OTA's. Smith is still learning complex defenses and a complex offense. This is Sanchez's 5th year and is way ahead of Smith b/c of his experience, so of course he will be ahead at this point. Hopefully Smith progresses from now till training camp so he can really compete for the job.

The locker room will shift either when Geno outplays Sanchez in practice, or when the season is lost. Only makes sense.
Throwing Geno out there week 1 with that amount of talent around him will not help him develop. Let him learn how to do a proper 5 step drop before making him the starter. Put him in around week 10 if the season is going poorly, and let him build from that.

Nice comments to alienate Geno aswell, sure this will do wonders for his confidence knowing this delusional locker room has the turnover machines back.
And if he said the lockeroom is all pulling for Geno, the "experts" here would be throwing a tickertape parade. He said nothing wrong, the team is united behind its QB, if and when its time that Geno takes over I'm sure the team will be behind him as well.

I couldn't agree more. Geno will eventually start but this is a dump yr let him sit a few games.. My point is centers, Wrs or whoever should not be opening their mouth about who they want to start.. It's up to the coaches, they should not be "pulling" for either. If the weasels in press go ask geno what he thinks of vets wanting Sanchez to start? He will probably be smart and defuse the question but if he voiced his real opinion I'm sure he would say " I don't care what they think I'm trying to do whatever I can to play" don't need that friction among themselves, geno is the future( atleast near future) marks days in ny are numbers..

It's not surprising at all that Mangold is supporting his good friend.

Let's see what happens in camp and preseason.

How quickly is Geno picking up the pro game? Will Sanchez repeat his terrible performance in the preseason?

    Does. Not. Compute.

Mangold understands the offense; which trumps our perspectives as armchair QB's.

Anonymous player says team wants Sanchez to sit, you and others are good with that.

Leader on the team says he thinks team wants Sanchez to start (and puts his name to it), you and others rip him.

Lol you don't see the difference? It's hard for those guys to come out and say the want Sanchez to sit. This is guy they have backed for 4 yrs, hoped and hoped he would turn it around.. He has been buddy buddy with all of them.. Could you tell your BFF to his face you would rather have new rookie start over him? It's easy for them to not openingly support, root for geno he's new guy who they dot know yet..

Mangold said mark is a fantastic QB that tells you right there that it is a pc fluff comment.

You aren't sincere when you mix the words "sanchez, qb, fantastic" in a positive manner in a sentence.

Also he mentioned mark as the better option in the immediate short term which shouldn't be a surprise as of right now. Mark is going into his fifth year and has had the playbook longer than smith who is a rookie.
