Geno Smith will be a bust if he starts from Day 1 he is clueless to a pro system. If he plays in the 2nd half or next year he has a chance.

Every rookie is clueless on how to run a pro O. He is less ready then Freeman, Wilson, Dalton, or Flacco where? No. What he can do will range with what the team can do. If we didnt have a good OL I'd say sure sit him but that isnt the case. I think he will be fine behind our line. The OL has NEVER been Marks issue, I dont care what the Sanchez lovers say.

Sanchez could play better. We've seen him play better. I just don't trust that he'll be Very good. He's an avg to lousy QB based on his record so far. The chances are that Mark will play well for awhile before falling back to a sub par level of play just when we need him. Mark is a mistake QB and I don't think that's gonna change.

Geno on the other hand has been a highly accurate QB and even tho it's very early he's shown that he throws a better ball than Mark and is more accurate. This is why the competition is so close. Mark is still the high mistake guy he was and Geno is more accurate but not as settled in the Pro offense just yet. He had a really good last 2 days of OTA's and you NEVER heard any coach say Geno was not accurate. Geno will only get better with more reps. He'll perfect his cadence and his delivery in the huddle. Geno will perfect his footwork and won't be indecisive once he's had more reps to get totally comfortable with all of this new stuff. We'll all see in TCamp and Pre Season games.

Sanchez has learned everything he is capable of learning and frankly, please don't force Jet fans to endure a fifth turmover laden year of more "learning" as the starting QB.

    TIME TO CHANGE=NOW!

In Mark we make the playoffs or get a lottery pick. Start him!

Are you seriously comparing Wilson vs. Smith. Russell was much better and will be a superior pro.

Bring Back Gerard now to mentor Sanchez and teach Geno how to hold a clipboard.

If Sanchez comes in and does well then of course the team will do well Maybe we have the QB we always wanted plus a shot at the playoffs. With that in mind we can look to next year and continue to grow as a team with a cheap but good backup in Geno or trade Sanchez and get some value in return.

We dont have a lot invested in Geno so there is no rush or pressure to start him if he isnt ready.

If Geno starts we will have plenty of rookie mistakes as you would with any QB and you could be shattering his confidence just like with did with Sanchez. If there isnt a good team around him then this is very possible. This team has a chance to do well this year but for the most part it is a rebuilding year. Its the perfect time for Geno to sit and learn at least for a little while.

Perhaps as the season goes on and we see the team starting to improve with many of the new pieces and Sanchez is turning it over then give Geno a shot.
    Excellent post.

    Excellent post!!!

Some of the same folks who are clamouring for Geno now will be sending him rotten watermellon if he doesn't perform as they predict on their FF boards.

Indeed some posters out here on other threads have already called Geno a punk, a thug, gang banger etc and that was upon the Jets just drafting Geno!!!!

So I say please let the Jets have some foresight and develop Geno the right away for a change....

    Excellent idea

Let him sit four seasons and watch Marky Favre lead the Jets to more turnover filled losing seasons!!

    GGCB!

You probably had never heard of Russell Wilson in the build up to his draft or until he won the job in Seattle, now nobody is comparable to him.

We have nothing to gain at all by starting Sanchez. Best case he never see the field again and we replace him with a viable NFL QB. Worst case he plays and is good enough to get an extension and we are stuck with him anther 2-3 years like SF was with Smith. NO ONE will trade for him NO ONE. At best at this point in his career he is a BU. David Carr only without the arm. He doesnt even show the ability Smith showed his 1st 4 years. He cant or will not throw the ball deep and always seems to be pouting. This is nothing new he isnt an NFL QB. Start Smith now and see what he has. IF he isnt an NFL QB get anther QB next year. It is that simple. Why put yourself in anther limbo year when the next guy may already be on your bench? Your not going to ruin Geno by starting him. That is some dumb stuff fans say to justify sitting a rookie. If he is the better option to play and he is you play him. If we didnt have a good line OK but that isnt the case. Put Geno in the game and let him progress on the field. Flacco, Freeman, Wilson, and Cam where all guys people said wherent ready their rookie years. Yet somehow they all did more then Sanchez has ever done in their 1st years. Geno this year is all upside. Sanchez you know what you get and that isnt a very good QB.

My views on the QB situation,

I was hoping David G would be our starter this year. We are in a transition year with 2 new starters on the o-line. We currently have limited offensive weapons. I would prefer Geno learns / practices more for later on this year or start next year. Let it be Sanchez last dance

Or his 1st two where he was also bad. Mark has never had a good season. He road a good team but has never had even an average season. It is not like Geno is trying to fill Joe Montanas boots here. ANYONE can do what Mark did in his time here.

    Couldn't agree more!
