In Morris Co., N.J. at the right end of a Browning 12 gauge
BG, Borgoguy gave me this on 6/17 and asked me to post when appropriate
After reading the two threads, I want to take a few minutes to correct a few things and, if possible, clear my name.
First, I never had a problem with SOOTH 86ing the Hotties Forum. I didn't like it, as we have lost tons of creative, and often funny, posts. But, as 32Green (from the PM I sent him after the forum's expunging) will attest, I encouraged SOOTH to abandon the Hotties Forum. Why? Because if JI.com is so dependent upon advertising revenue, that place was an accident (nip and/or lip slip)waiting to happen. I even wrote that I understood the move in several posts in the Hampur.
My jibes were directly related to the "advertiser" who saw fit to call SOOTH on the carpet for the image(s). They were also targeted at the removal of most of my post count, for which I received no explanation. Was I being punished for a Hotties Forum image(s)? I asked politely several times, but all I received back rom various moderators were goofy responses. I felt like Josef K. in Kafka's The Trial, only with better penmanship.
Several folks have written that they don't understand how people like me can be so serious about an internet community. To them, I say you missed the ball by a mile. Probably why no one knows who you are.
Virtually every day, for years, I have logged on here to contribute something. Humor, perspective, a pat on the back to a friend (yes, a friend) who may be going through a health challenge or loss of a loved one or pet, etc. To take all that away without explanation bothered me as well as belittling what I have tried to create. You don't understand it? Fine, I digged being here hanging out with my buddies.
In the now fateful 32Green Thread, the only reason I mentioned the Hotties Forum incident was to poke fun at 32, tying in the the question of where he had gone (see post #4 in that thread). Then, it was to respond to Mr. Churchill, who asked the question: "By the way, anyone else lol over Advertisor-Gate, when half the ads I get at JI are things like "DateMyOldMilf.lol" and "AsianMailOrderBrides.lol"?" (See post #5)
Next, I responded to Churchill saying that I had received an advert from a Taiwanese dating service. After seeing another ad with a scantily clad woman, I quoted Churchill's post again to further illustrate the point. No disrespect was meant to SOOTH or his action vis-a-vis the Hotties Thread. Instead, it was a slap at the hypocrisy of the advertiser.
It is at this point when "the moderator in question" chose to be a bit snippy with me (see post #10), to which I corrected his posting and called him a "dunce".
Next, "the moderator" decided to make it personal, implying that I frequented Asian porn sites (which I do not; I know, you're all stunned), etc. To which, I responded in my terse tone and strong language. The reason? As I pointed out in that posting (#17 for those following along), "the moderator in question" had seen fit to chastise me two other times before this incident. We tried to hash it out both on the board and in PMs. For some reason only "the moderator in question" can divulge, he decided to make it personal (making the medical/psychological determination that I have emotional issues, etc.) and adversarial.
(ASIDE: Not sure what folks don't understand, but almost all the images I have ever posted came directly from Google Image. The "art" I bring to it is going through myriad photos to find ones displaying sexiness or some other characteristic of attractiveness. On my son's life, I have never been on one dating site, of any ethnicity.)
For me, that crossed the line, engendering my angry reaction. I stand by it. Men of my generation and background, taken beyond a certain point, will almost always react similarly. "The moderator in question" actually got off easy. Literally, I've seen folks get punched up for less.
Think I'm imagining all this? That "the moderator in question" is being unfairly targeted? Is just everyone's bestest (sic) buddy? Go read "the moderator in question's" response to Churchill after my post.
Notice how "the moderator in question" also tries to belittle Churchill, who will have none of it and swats him down mightily. But not before "the moderator in question" does what all do who have been outmatched intellectually and have no argument: He gives him a shrug and says he doesn't care (see post 42). Right. Just as "the moderator in question" in this thread who said: "Like I said, I get it. Whatever. You're all imaginary Internet beings anyway." What a great guy. Certainly worthy of garnering our respect.
So, many of you folks think calling a person a scumbag and instructing him to go f**k himself is inductive of a "meltdown". Really? These are words/phrases which have never been used in this forum? Meltdown? Give me a break. Talk about candy ass.
Again, read my post. I outline clearly that "the moderator in question" has approached me similarly on other occasions and IMO has overstepped his moderating authority by making it personal and antagonizing me. Again, in the same spot, I'd do exactly the same thing. So would most of you.
And that brings me to how so many of you reacted in the two threads. Calling me emotionally unstable, in need of dosage corrections to my medications, how I had gone completely off the rails, etc. Again, really? Unlike my actions, this is the definition of overreaction.
Almost daily, I read in various threads how men today act like p*ssies, how we are raising a generation of wimpy kids, etc. But I react how men of my generation do and I'm chastised for it (not the banning, but the ridiculous reactions from many in the thread depicting me as a loon)? Please. "The moderator in question" knew what he was doing. So did I.
A couple of quick notes:
--Tons of hilarious posts/Bollywood stuff. Well done, muchachos.
--No, I am not Jets88NY.
-- Two year banning is a "place holder"? LOL. Right.
--In these times of "adversity", you really see a person's/friend's true mettle as well as being completely surprised by the compassion, loyalty and friendship of unexpected others. Thank you all so very much.
-- To Raoul Duke: I know you are a friend of "the moderator in question", so respect that you are defending him. But your characterization of me is misguided at best. Maybe in France folks threaten to "contact my State's Attorney General". But here in the US, stuff like that is a joke. Go back and read the Bozo's Thread. Even JW came to understand its intent. Again, on my son's life, unlike my terse response to "the moderator in question", that was a designed, yet poorly executed, goof. The only real aspects were my thinly veiled shots at JetsBabe, which I regret to thuis day.
Okay, so I hope this has not bored you all to tears. It's just frustrating to sit by whilst your character is being assassinated (by some) and incorrect statements are being made. IMO, it's bad form to rip someone when they are unable to defend themselves.
Thanks for listening, gents. This is a one take, so please forgive syntactical/grammatical/spelling errors.
