NFL reportedly picks Bruno Mars to perform its Super Bowl halftime show

    http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-sh...7191--nfl.html

Given that the main theme of the Super Bowl this season will be its New York/New Jersey location, it seemed the NFL would stick with the theme and pick a halftime act from the area (Jay Z? Bon Jovi? Bruce Springsteen again?).

That's what makes the pick of Bruno Mars a bit random.

Mars will be the halftime act of this season's Super Bowl, the Associated Press reported, citing anonymous sources. An official announcement is supposed to happen in Times Square on Sunday. Mars is a fine choice, as a Grammy winner and one of the best-selling artists of the last few years. Just a little out of the blue for the NFL, which isn't bad either...
    Talk About it...

What a horrible choice. So many incredible options for a NY Super Bowl... And they go with this?

I mean, could they not have gotten Jay Z to perform Empire State of Mind? That would have been the perfect choice if they wanted to go the "hip" route.

Jay Z, Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake, should have been the choices.

    Bruno Mars?

Never heard of him and I'm not about to follow a Pats troll's advice to "Check him out".

I'm sure he did a lot of that whenever he looked at Brady....

I'm pretty sure JT had his chance on the Super Bowl stage ...Billy Joel would've been ideal

Solid Choice of a relevant star! The NY connection comes in Bruno's father - who is from New York.

Eh they could have done a lot worse. I am completely sick of the jay z over saturation so I'm thankful they didnt go with him. Taylor Swift needs to get this gig at some point but whatever. Billy Joel would have been cool. Bon Jovi is a disgrace to the state of New Jersey.
