Hey everyone, it's summertime and the news on our beloved Jets is slow.
It's nice to know that Woody been keeping busy...here we go again!
Woody Johnson to host dinner for Jeb Bush, potential presidential candidate
Woody Johnson hasn't been secretive about his political leanings in the past.
During the previous election, the Jets owner was squarely in Mitt Romney's corner and was crucial in fundraising efforts to aid the eventual runner-up. Johnson, aside from deep pockets, runs with an influential circle and brings a tireless work effort to elections -- must-haves for any candidate interested in making a serious run.
"Ultimately in football and politics, itís all about the person who is leading the charge," Johnson told the Ledger back in 2011 while working for Romney.
According to Politico, Johnson and his wife, Suzanne, will host a dinner party for Jeb Bush, the former Florida governor and rumored presidential hopeful in 2016, at their home on July 23 -- two days before the Jets report to training camp in Cortland, N.Y.
The site refers to the Jets owner as a "Republican mega-bundler."
Bush, obviously, has some pedigree in politics. Both his brother and father were presidents. It looks like Johnson is doing his best to key in on a favorite.
The Jets did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
