New York Giants linebacker Dan Connor reportedly was arrested at Philadelphia International Airport for carrying a switchblade knife.
According to Philadelphia TV station WVPI, Connor was arrested around 9 a.m. ET on Saturday morning when Transportation Security Administration agents spotted the knife and called police, according to ProFootballTalk.
According to NBCPhiladelphia.com, Connor, 27, was charged with possession of an offensive weapon.
A Philadelphia native, Connor signed with the Giants in March. He played with the Dallas Cowboys last season after a four-year stretch with the Carolina Panthers. He was drafted by the Panthers out of Penn State in the third round of the 2008 NFL draft.
You have to be careful with knives like Spydercos. Although they are not switchblade knives (or gravity knives), there are some jurisdictions where there is enough ambiguity to get arrested.
I was arrested in 93 on the Thruway for having a nightstick under my seat, and charged with criminal possession of a weapon. I went to court, and the judge gave me a public defender who took the case on the spot, and they lowered it from a felony to a misdemeanor. Same fine though(go figure), and they kept my mahogany police baton which had been my uncles. All weapons are illegal in NY.
