Jets interested in OT Michael Bamiro...

Giants, Jets scout Stony Brook OT Michael Bamiro

    Conor Orr/The Star-Ledger
    on July 11, 2013 at 3:01 PM

Stony Brook offensive tackle Michael Bamiro, a 6-8, 335-pound preseason All-American, worked out in for almost two dozen NFL teams in New Jersey today.

According to Fox Sports, the Jets and Giants made the short trip to check him out.

Bamiro had eligibility issues at Stony Brook and immediately became a free agent this offseason.

According to Bamiro's agent, he received some contract offers before scouts even saw him work out today.

Obviously, Bamiro's combination of size and skill will draw a lot of eyes. The Jets packed their roster full of new offensive linemen this year, but are still relatively thin at the tackle position.

If they have the money then go for it. A killer line will be huge this year.

Is that a high school or a junior high?

While I think that it is smart to kick the tires, it is hard to judge OL who play in lessor leagues - see Vlad "The Matador" Ducasse

#90 of the Jet players who might be on the training camp roster that, shockingly, reptilleon hates, loathes and abhors.

FCS wise they were pretty good

and he was projected to be a 3rd round pick next year

and these were the teams that went to his pro day

the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, New York Giants, Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, San Diego Chargers, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins were among the clubs represented.
but if you say that we shouldn't pursue guy for nothing because he didn't go to alabama, you probably know better.

He's a Pats fan cloaked in Jets gear. He never has anything good to say.
At some point if you take some complete negative self deprecation position regarding the team you supposedly cheer for its time to look for another team or even another sport.

A great team in the FCS would finish last in most BCS conferences. The level of competition faced by their OL is simply deficient. Unless there is film of him blocking studs, it is hard to tell if he can play in the NFL.

No harm in adding another camp body.

    There will be injuries.

Stony Brook had a RB that put up big numbers and may have been drafted somewhere (not sure of his name but I remember talk about him a few months back) someone must have opened holes for him.

I love for the team to get back to being the tenacious, nasty OL that they had back in 2009 and 2010.

If we can get back to that, even if the skill positions haven't changed, we will be a WAY better team that will certainly make the playoffs.

Might as well give him a look and put him on the practice squad for a year. He wont be able to start immediately.

The anti-Tebow crowd will reject him, forget it
