Band-Off: Gloomiest Rock Band of All Time

After automatically disqualifying any second tier wierdo metal devil bands, its got to be either Pink Floyd or Nirvana, right? Both wrote any number of songs that would be good candidates to commit suicide to. Interesting (if not unsurprising) that both focused a lot of their songs on individuals in states of severe mental distress. Floyd was a bit more expansive given that they wrote songs (especially on The Wall) that alluded to historical contributors to mental distress (parents, schooling, etc.). Nirvana's songs lived much more in the here and now.

For those considering darkest bands as gloomiest bands, I'll go with Type o Negative. Saw em live, lead singer was big, dark and scarey. Think he's dead now. Rip

    +1

Exactly who I thought of when I saw the thread title.

I do like some Cure on occasion though. Even deeply depressing music can stir the soul in a positive way.

    Captain & Tennille, by far

"Muskrat Love" makes you want to impale yourself on a giant rusty metal pike.

Yep - my small sample of Queens-based honeys provided evidence that either flavor was completely acceptable. I didn't understand the inrage; but they lovedit, so - 5 stars!

Dave clearly does not like Nickelback.

    I like Dave.
