I know its early but clearly Geno is having the better camp. Also I like what I keep hearing about Hill - the KRo report. (not saying you are wrong Kro). I have never been so excited to see preseason games, we have so many interesting things to look at...qb comp, the revamped dline, the wrs and the safetys just to name a few.

Beginning to sound like McElroy's days are numbered.
Can't believe they've let him stick around this long

Most likely waiting to make sure our qb's go injury free through camp. He won't make opening day.

Geno Smith looking good in red zone, hits Hill for 17 yd TD in 7 on 7. Earlier, threw 11 yd TD to Kerley in team drill. #Jets

    Eric Allen ‏@eallenjets
Good job by Stephen Hill dragging the feet in the back of the end zone on a pass from Geno in 7 on 7. Sanchez throws a dart to Kerley - TD
Loving that Geno is lighting it up, massive reflection of his mental strength to just turn up and ball considering the scrutiny this battle is getting.

would of been easy for a rook to crumble in these circumstances, true testament of his ability and character.

McKnight, Kerley and Zach Rogers returned both kickoffs and punts today. Jordan White and Clyde Gates also worked on punt return. #Jets

Into full 11 on 11s Geno had a great read to a wide open Cumby and then a nice downfield catch by Titus Ryan before an Ellis sack

    Chris Nimbley ‏@Cnimbley
Geno with excellent placement, purposely threw it high to Tim Ryan on 15-yard post bc Kyle Wilson had tight coverage.

Sounds like another strong day for Geno. Based upon the reports he seems to have come a long way since mini-camp.

Big Kenrick Ellis gets pressure right up the middle to force a Smith incompletion in team. Clyde Gates continues to flash.

    Chris Nimbley ‏@Cnimbley

Garay chases down Sanchez for the sack

    Eric Allen ‏@eallenjets
Josh Bush shows off his coverage ability, knocking down a Sanchez ball intended for Hill.

    Brian Bassett ‏@Brian_Bassett
In first two plays Sanchez has a 5yd completion to obomanh and then a long FD to Gates before a batted pass by Bush.

I know it's still early, but it's still pretty crazy that Geno hasn't struggled at all.

By all accounts, he's ahead in the QB battle, even if Sanchez is having a solid camp.

Can't wait until the Lions game.

Also, given what we've been seeing, it's hard to imagine how the Jets would have been able to split reps if Garrard were still here.

QB Matt Simms hits TE Jeff Cumberland in stride racing toward the sideline for a 35 yard gain in 11-on-11 drills.

We are in team. (11 on 11) Cumberland has has a couple of long-gainers in this period, Jarrett continues to be active with the hits.

Mauga picks off Sanchez, the crowd boos loudly.

    Brian Bassett ‏@Brian_Bassett
Sanchez throws an ill-advised interception behind the receiver to Josh Mauga for a returnable pick.

    Rich Cimini ‏@RichCimini
Sanchez throws first pick of camp, intercepted by Mauga. #Jets

    Randy Lange ‏@rlangejets
LB Josh Mauga picks off Sanchez on a ball thrown near the right hash a few yards past the line of scrimmage. Returns it for a would-be TD.

Even if Sanchez had a slight lead in play Geno would be winning given Sanchez is a 5th year player who should have pulled away and ran with this "competition".

Sanchez threw a TD to Kerley earlier and got half a tweet from one person.

Sanchez just threw an INT looking for Gates and 5 full tweets pop up about it. LOL.

They need to start favoring Geno now and give him the majority of the reps. This charade that the coaching staff is putting on needs to stop now. Its genos team. Let him have it and get all 1st team reps moving forward.

I think the Jets should just name Geno starter tomorrow. By all accounts he is ahead in terms of athleticism, big play ability, throwing ability especially deep, and has shown leadership. Needs work on footwork, breaking from the huddle it seems. He will get better at those things with repetiion. He needs ALL 1st team reps. If Sanchez has not separated at this point so early he never will. Give Geno the reps and start the next era. He's going to win anyway, why delay?
