Idzik stands his ground on the Milliner Contract

An indication of things to come as far as the business side of things. Idzik shows he's a shrewd negotiator. How refreshing is that??

@RichCimini: Details on Milliner contract: CORTLAND, N.Y. -- GM John Idzik told people close to him he wasn't going to bend... http://t.co/JPlpETGbq0"

So Idzik confided in someone close to him and that person ran to Cimini? Not believing that POS would run to publish it?

    Sure Rich

Good for the I-man. Completely right course of action, sets a good precedent. I cant believe how long before this year we were run by a buffoon.

These rookies are all slotted now. Sure, there are negotiations around offsets, years, structure of payments (i.e. workout bonus vs. roster bonus vs. signing bonus, etc.) but this really wasn't rocket science.

I'm glad Idzik held his ground but it's kind of like buying a new car these days. You might have an MSRP of $35,000 and know the invoice price is $31,000. When you end up paying $32,500 it's a reasonable deal that really doesn't surprise anyone.

Very true, I agree. But I have no doubt Tanny would have buckled and allowed the offset language to benefit the player..

Has any of the top 10 1st rounder who held out briefly due to this offsetting language stuff got their way?

I don't recall any player winning. So this really doesn't say much. Not a diss on Idzik, just this is a non-story IMO.

Ziggy Ansah got it from the Lions but there was no delay getting to camp. The Lions just gave it to him. Is Matt Millen still there?
