    Musician's thread

Well, as a drummer and being someone obsessed with music ( especially progressive rock/metal) I want to know how many others play instruments around here. Im 18 and have been a drummer for about 4 years.

I have been playing guitar since 1972......Been in and out of bands throughout my life; now I play solo acoustic guitar and vocals here in the Scottsdale AZ area. It's great hobby.... you will find several guitar players here...Borgo, for one.

I've been playing electric bass on and off for about 25 years. Mostly cover bands doing heavy metal and rock...a few original bands too until LIFE took over...I still fiddle around when I can...

I played upright bass throughout college in jazz bands, dinner clubs etc. Electric bass as well. Stopped at age 25 to make a living.

In that 25 years I took up guitar and I have actually become very good acoustic player. JT, Fogelberg, Lyle Lovett, Croce etc...

I just joined a band here in Charlotte a few weeks ago. Playing original stuff. We are a trio electric bass, Guitar and drums.

    Its fun again.

I played the triangle in kindergarten. Damn teacher let Mary Jane play the flute. Coincidence? I think not.

Where do you usually play? Maybe I can head up and catch a show. I'll be the guy heckling, "the Jets suck!" from the back of the bar.

I'm almost 21, played bass since I was 13; guitar since I was about 15; tinkered around with the drums, but was never really a natural with it. I'm 'ok' at bass and guitar, though I don't know really any theory. Self taught pretty much all the way (aside from a few bass lessons). Used to play in church groups and played at a few larger churches, so that was kinda cool. Never was in a band, though. Pretty much just wrote music solo.

I just bought one of these fiddles:

    http://www.tetonguitars.com/models/sts155cent/

Sounds great for the money I paid. Cedar top. Good sound and has a Fishman pre with a built in tuner which is fairly accurate. It's not Peterson Stroboclip accurate (yeah I rock that on my Taylor) but it's pretty good.
