The "Just what kinda insect/reptile/animal/alien am I dealing with here?" Thread

I'll start. Any entomologists or arachnid identifiers here? Found this guy on a glue board in the laundry room.

For reference, he's about the size of a fingernail.

Can't really tell, but does it have a violin shaped marking from its thorax to its abdomen? I hope as **** that its not a brown recluse.
Don't you live in AZ, and have to deal with bark scorpions and the like?

    :shudder:

How to identify a Brown Recluse

Please protect yourself and your family. Use the above link to help ensure it's not a Brown Recluse. An adult will get very sick, but it can very well kill a small child in certain cases.

We had one bite my neighbor, and she was sick for a month.

It's hard to tell without a top-down view of the back; there are a lot of copycats out there. Can you see if it's got two sets of 3 eyes ? The recluse has 6 instead of 8 (nature you so crazy).

What did it taste like? Was it crunchy and dry or more slimy on your palate?

Google 'brown recluse spider bite' and see if you feel the same way about that statement.

What's that coming out of its butt? Looks like taser prongs.

Possibly worse than sharks with lasers.

    Glue boards an inhumane.

Looks like a recluse but those two tail-like things make me think it is not. Take some better photos next time. Your life might depend on it.

    I know what that is!

    It's called a spider!

Really tho... Not sure of the Brown Recluse thing, but a friend of mine was Surveying in the woods and got bit by one.
He had to go to the hospital.

The poison from the bite ate a hole in his leg.

Would have had to get his leg amputated if he didn't go to the hospital... And he went right away because he knew it was a Recluse

Yeah, I don't think the brown recluse has such pronounced spinnerets on it's abdomen, so I think he's safe.
