    Jets to Release Brady Quinn

Jets are releasing QB Brady Quinn today.

No surprise, they will probably just bring him back on Monday.

    No surprise.

I'm done trying to read into what everything means for Sanchez's situation. Wouldn't be surprised if they dress him every game even though he has a broken shoulder. This is the same team that went into a game with only one healthy QB last year and had Tebow dressed even though he was never going to play.

It would be a typical Jets move to do this, then see someone else sign him.

Just IR Sanchez and be done with it. He's done here, so free up the roster spot.

True. Just seems the sequence of transactions makes no sense otherwise. Personally I would rather just go with Simms and Geno and use the 2 additional roster spots for Lansannah and a receiver.

Agree with the idea of using the extra roster spot for a WR. I thought I saw that Tone is questionable for tomorrow.

All this will mean is that Quinn salary is not guaranteed.

Although it would be typical of the Jets luck, somehow, I just can't picture anyone running to Brady Quinn's agent trying to steal him away from us.

Don't read too much into this move, as Boyton Beach posted, all this does is not guarantee Quinn's salary. He is expected to be re-signed on Monday. Quinn even gets paid this week.

I get that but why sign him before Monday then?

Why would Sanchez agree to that?

He would have a strong argument for a grievance if there isn't medical opinion that his injury warrants him sitting out the entire season.

Yeah the union wouldn't allow that, for reasons Piper stated

Somebody who gets it..A rarity here...

Once all the Jets players report safe and sound to the team hotel today they'll release Quinn knowing they have 2 healthy QBs for tomorrow...They'll then resign Quinn Monday...HIs contract is then non-guaranteed and becomes basically a week to week contract..

Once Sanchez is healthy (9/16 at the earliest) Quinn will be released...

That said, should Sanchez suffer a setback or his shoulder remains an issue over the coming week(s) Sanchez could be placed on IR and Quinn retained..

Because Quinn had so many teams wanting to sign him when he was released?

The Jets will have an open roster spot, and may use it to sign wide receiver Michael Campbell from the practice squad. They need receiver insurance in the event that Santonio Holmes, returning from foot surgery, can't finish the game. He's listed as questionable, but is expected to play a limited role.
