Geno is a project, like Simms in a way, not close to being NFL ready. Now the Jets don't have the luxury of giving him more time to develop, and throwing him to the wolves. If Sanchez got hurt in the first quarter vsTampa, like Vinny did so many years ago, well, that's football. When your coach gets your starter hurt in the 4th quarter of a pre-season game, because he thinks that game is vital to win, then you have to question his decision making ability. Is this guy competent to lead a team? Unfortunately, this is the latest, and hopefully last, example of what a horrible leader Rex is. Sanchez to the IR, which would mean the end of his season, should be the last straw. He has to go.
The fact of the matter is that Sanchez has not been the starter for even one millisecond this offseason/season. He is the starter when Rex or Idzik says he is, not when you or Cimini or Mehta says he is.

    Whos said this?

If we take it that Sanchez was injured and not playing who was the backup yesterday? Harrell or Simms?

If Geno sucks and needs to sit or if hes injured the best guy practicing steps in. If its Quinn and the Jets aren't out of it you might play him all things being equal because of his exp. If the season is shot you play Simms to see what he has.

Better than losing Geno and having to choose between Simms & Harrell. Thats why this is a better situation.

Because McElroy is injured and likely not available for the first two games? They need a third option behind Geno and Matt in case our 1 and 2 go down the way Pennington and Fiedler did in the space of half a dozen plays a few years ago.

This seems to be a hard concept to understand.

Sanchez: "I'm feeling better each day." Won't comment about specifics with rehab. Taking it day-to-day.

Tank for Teddy? Is this going to go on all year, people slurping Bridgewater without acknowledging the fact that Bridgewater today is almost the exact same prospect from a skill set, production, competition and scheme that Geno Smith was almost exactly 1 year ago? Bridgewater is way closer to the Tannehill and Geno's of the world than he is the Luck and RG III's.

As for Quinn, a backup signed to be a backup. Not much reason to get worked up about. Maybe it spells the end for Sanchez, maybe it doesn't, time will tell.

The Quinn signing means nothing. Just that McElroy is terrible and not physically or mentally qualified to play QB in the NFL which should not surprise any half-way knowledgeable Jet fan.

Rex says "that's not what we're looking at right now" when asked about putting Sanchez on IR

Do you see Sanchez missing season with injury? Rex: "No."

Rex: "If Mark's healthy, he would be a part of this football team."

No he's not. Teddy plays in pro style offense, has a bigger arm, and is a better pocket passer than Geno. Tannehill? Tannehill was a converted WR. To compare Bridgewater to him is ridiculous.

Teddy isn't on the level of a Luck/RG3, but he's certainly better than a Geno/Tannehill. He's somewhere in the middle. More like Matt Ryan/Matthew Stafford

I almost threw up listening to MT on fan sat defending the contract he games Sanchez.. He can't even admit how much of a mistake that was.. No one will ever sign MT to be GM again if he can't even realize that.. There was no reason to guarantee his deal.. Who ever is marks agent deserves a lot of credit for robbing the jets blind..

Pro Style offense is a term used very loosely in college football. Louisville's offense as well as West Virginia's are based on principles of the WCO. Both are heavy on short timing routes. Bridgewater right now is getting elevated on tremendous results against below average D1 competition and a strong bowl performance. Sounds awfully familiar to me. I don't think Bridewater is anything close to the prospects Stafford or Ryan was. Just my opinion. Unfortunately, Bridgewater won't ever play close to the competition Stafford, Ryan, Smith or any recent high end QB did, so his star might not have the chance to fade.

The Sanchez contract was the gasoline. The Teblow trade was the match or should I say dynamite that ignited the explosion.

Bigger arm? Based on what? Geno has a very good arm, I've watched Bridgewater play, he has a good arm, is it better than Geno? I don't know...

I'd love to see a Geno vs. Bridgewater thread so our arm-chair pro scouts can give us there expert opinion.
