    I Don't Know Who Hires ...

At the Star Ledger but they do an excellent job finding Jet beat writers:

    Jenny Vrentas
    Connor Orr

And now Darryl Slater he just posted an excellent article about Ducasse development
and the ins and outs of OLine play:

Good stuff. Everyone give this guy some web hits and let's support the non-tmz beat writers that actually support the team.

FYI Darryl Slater is Tannys pen name.

It's just unfortunate that they don't stick around too long.

Slater will be on the Giants beat next year.

    completely agree.

I started following him on twitter this summer, Slater and Dennis Waszlak (AP) are by far our most objective and informative beat writers.

No snark, no hidden agenda, just straight reporting.

Didn't Mehta start at the Ledger?

Good article and I think jets fans are going too love the addition of Colon. I have followed him most of his career and if it wasn't for the injuries he would be considered a top notch Olineman as of now.

Not the greatest Tackle but plays the guard position much better and is ideally suited as a RG. Could play either Tackle position in a pinch.....and while he would not excel, I believe he would be better than anyone else on the roster. Keeping my fingers crossed he stays healthy.

Ducasse story is great but until he proves it on the field......I'll reserve judgement. I hope he pans out and I might be one of the only people that did not have a problem with Tannys selection. Kid has some imposing size and athletic ability. Unfortunately I don't think he'll ever get it and while he did play well in the preseason.....he also had the usual matador plays. Hope he proves me wrong.

    Go Jets.

It'll be interesting to see how a different QB fares behind our line ... last year I think the line got unfairly judged because of Sanchez's hesitations / holding the ball too long. Hopefully Geno is more decisive, even if it means throwing it away / scrambling for a yard or two rather than taking the big hits & fumbles that result.

As long as he stays healthy, Colon can be our Damian Woody at the right guard position.
You don't know how important these vets are until you don't have them. I like Colons pedigree coming from a Steeler organization that I despise due to their crossbread redneck fans, but also respect for their toughness & team play.
Really like their coach Mike Tomlin.

Star Ledger has always been a quality paper. You can back to the 90's with Paul Needell and Kim Jones. The paper seems to prefer quality and substance over sensational headlines.

It is the editors. They don't try to sensationalize everything or pressure the beat writers for controversial stories.

Sadly, I heard their publisher is threatening to close them down over a labor dispute. I think that is why most of the good ones leave.

Another quality read from the Star Ledger, this time by Michael Fensom about MM and the wide receivers:

Agree ... Great read & nice informative story!

Love what we've seen out of Colon so far ... Him mentoring Vlad only adds to that ... Stay healthy brother!

I actually like the idea of Ducasse starting, it's the same with Geno. We have to see what we have with these guys before the offseason. If Jet fans are honest with themselves this is a year of talent evaluation. A lot of the contracts will be released in the offseason clearly a significant amount of cap space. Holmes is not playing for this year, he's playing for his NFL career. If we release him because of a subpar year, no one else will sign him to a significant contract. Sanchez may very well be released this year when healthy if Smith plays like he has great upside. That's why the Jets signed Quinn. I think Idzik understands a rebuilding process and part of that is turning away from the bad press that Sanchez gives. Butt fumble, turnovers, dancing semi nude while be recorded. All of these things don't sound like a $50m franchise QB.

Rex Ryan, coaching for his job, takes more active role in Jets' defense
