Wasn't comparing the players, just the circumstance of injury. Both guys hurt playing for someone other than the Isles. DPs first all star appearance, JTs first Olympic appearance. DP clearly was never gonna reach Tavares' level, but he was a solid 60 game per year starter before the injury and I don't think he ever started more than about 25 a year and was one of the worst in the league after the injury.

    No Vanek News Yet

    but from Newsday.com-

Notes & quotes: Frans Nielsen (broken hand) was placed on injured reserve, retroactive to Feb. 8. Tavares will go on IR as soon as he returns. Ryan Strome and Anders Lee, Bridgeport's two leading scorers, likely will take those two roster spots and be recalled as early as Monday . . . Kyle Okposo said he watched the entire Olympic tournament and that the sting of being snubbed for the U.S. squad didn't go away. "Especially during that Canada game," he said of the 1-0 semifinal loss by the U.S. "That's the sort of game you want to play in. It was tough."

Hopefully they are moved sooner rather than later. Of course, I'd rather the best deal possible but the longer these guys stay on the roster, the more the situation festers.

I'd like to see at least one NHL ready forward prospect in return. Other than that, I'll take the best haul possible - whether its picks, prospects or a goalie.

All things equal, I think we can find a goalie in FA but if Anderson, Gibbons or Subban come back, I'm not unhappy.

    From Staple

#Isles recall Lee, Strome and Mike Halmo.

Halmo is an interesting call. I'm looking forward too seeing him, I've seen him compared to a Haley that is a better hockey player. I also wonder who the fourth centerman will be......Bailey, maybe Lee.

Forgot to add that those three players were Bridgeports entire first line.

I think Lee will do well.

    Put your name on it!

I also think Sanchez will be back this season, too.

    We'll see.

I'm really looking forward to Lee. Big body that crashes the net, just what the doctor ordered.

If we figure out that Lee has a place on this team going forward, I'm satisfied with the 2nd half of the season. We will have several forward spots open and if he can be a guy that can be on the 2nd line and 2nd PP unit, that's a real hole that's filled. Big question as to whether Cappy will keep that line together or fill them in piece meal. Of course, we need a #1C which may end up being Strome. So many potential possibilities.....I'll take a stab (not including Vanek):

    Grabner - Nelson- KO
    Lee- Bailey - CMac
    Halmo - Strome - Clutterbuck
    MM - CC - Boulton

I mean, if that doesn't scream Lord Stanley, I don't know what does!

    I'll take a stab but it's similar:

    Grabs-Nelson-KO
    Lee-Strome-Clutter
    MM-Bailey-Cmac
    Halmo-CC-Boulton

    No Trade News Yet

Arthur Staple reported 6 teams inquired about Vanek, but no deal.

He says Snow will likely wait until just before the deadline to make any moves.

    So sit tight another week.

I wish he would just pull the trigger. Every hit the guy takes this week, every shot he blocks and I will be holding my breath.

I understand why he wants to wait, but I'm not sure that the market will materialize quite like he wants/expects it to. Sure a team might offer more the closer it gets to the deadline. But, there is also the possibility of a team simply settling for Moulson/Cammelleri rather than being forced to fork over an oil package by the Islanders.

There may actually be a bigger market for AMac than Vanek. Teams like the Penguins - who just lost Paul Martin - and the Bruins could really use a AMac for the rest of the year.

    M. Subban for AMac? I've that proposed a bunch. Unlikely to happen, but would love to see it.

Four more games till the deadline, lets all collectively keep our fingers crossed. I'm so glad we're playing a team like Toronto tonight

Nice first period for Halmo,....couple of great hits and a slick pass. Hopefully Grabs will carry over the coaching he got in the olympics.

And a question for you guys. Has a player ever scored two shorthanded goals on the same penalty in the history of the NHL? I'm surprised Butch and Howie did not bring it up.

They just mentioned that Ziggy Palffy was the last Isle to do it in 99.
