Special Teams has really dropped off

Is it me or do touchbacks seem to be our best strategy when returning kicks?

Have we even sniffed a FG block or punt block?

ST just seems to be subpar this year. Not horrible, just below average.

At least part of that is the game and how the rules have changed. In games that I have watched, I can count on one hand how many actual kickoff returns there have been. The owners have made rules to take kickoff returns right out of the game. It's the worst.

In reference to the ST's though, Jets ST's were horrible last season. Hard to get much worse. I think they are better this season at least thus far. Lets give Kotwica a chance.

Agreed on kickoff rules but when we do try to return it we end up at the 10 to 15 yard line. I'd rather take the knee in the endzone.

Our STs play can be attributed to the lack of overall depth at the skilled positions on the roster. Backup LBs, DBs and WRs are often STs aces.

I was going to make a thread about our current Punter but this will suffice...

We have to drop Quigley and pick up someone, anyone else... He is absolutely awful and with a D like the Jets have, you NEED at least a mediocre Punter...

In the return game sure, but coverage is great. Lankster might be the best special teamer in the league.

the NFL is doing everything possible to get rid of the kick return. put sanchez back there i dont care. they should take a knee everywhere if they catch it in the endzone. as for punt returns, Kerley has potential there. bills had a solid coverage against him today. quigley is terrible and should be cut for anyone but him.

KR is nearly a non-factor in today's NFL. PR on the other hand is a big problem for us.

On the bright side, we have a money kicker and that punt we downed on the 1-yd line was a nice play even though I'm not sure how much I like Quigley otherwise.

Barnes basically had a punt block on the bills final punt, he was so scared of committing a roughing the kicker penalty he pulled up, he played like a beast today

At least we had someone back fielding punts today. Babby steps.
