And with all that Sanchez had done the Jets did bench him LAST YEAR!!!!
What are folks talking about!!!!!
I don't buy the competition thing fully; for me the question is how can an organization with a QB who is struggling actually reduce the talent and coaching staff around him and expect him to improve!!!
They obviously had higher hopes for Sparano and overestimated the time it would take for Hill to develop (which was obvious to everyone but them). They let Sanchez out to dry which is why they were reluctant to bench him because they knew that virtually no one could have succeeded in that scenario last year. With that said, we had no choice but to bring in QBS of the future because Sanchez is clearly broken and could only resurrect his career in a another town.
If he plays anything like he did in College, he will be very frustrating to root for. He will make 5 "Favre-esque" passes in a row and then follow that up with 5 of the ugliest looking passes you have ever seen. He has all the tools and could develop into something, but I am surprised they are rushing him into the lineup.
Schiano is trying to save his job. If Glennon pulls it off, then Schiano looks like a genius. If Glennon sucks, then Schiano can justify the Bucs' bad performance as the growing pains of a rookie QB.
Its ironic that a lot of people have compared him to Sanchez and in the same season both are not starting. I know that Sanchez is injured but there is no way I can see that Idzik was not pushing Smith over Sanchez to Rex. The injury just made it easier to make the decision.
