Thread: Has the McKnight bridge sailed for good?

Has the McKnight bridge sailed for good?

Ok hear me out before you start the dump posts.

I was in total favour of dropping McKnight like a stone after camp because let's face it he did nothing to earn a roster spot, nor did he embrace our competition mantra.

One of the only negatives and something that really concerns me is the inability to give Geno a short field, Gates clearly isn't the answer and I can't see us risking Cro.

The only good thing about McKnight are his returns and there is nothing comparable out there right now, is it worth giving him another shot? Really think a short field now and then will help Geno, we just can't keep setting him up on the 20 and expecting him to drive down the field.

    Thoughts?

Aside from not being very good, McKnight seemed to be one step away from jumping off a bridge. The guy didnt seem mentally stable during camp.

Not being on the team or the coaching staff, it is hard to gauge just how much of a douche he is and whether he is a drag, just by his presence. But he could help us on special teams, no doubt.

no. We need someone who can return punts. kickoffs are irrelevant in todays nfl.

Make sure he doesn't have to carry a football on the way down.

What would be the use of bringing him back?

His only viable use is on kick returns, an aspect of the game that is going the way of the dodo bird.

It would be a total waste of a roster spot.

I'd rather not have either on the roster.

And when Goodson comes back next week, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Gates is shown the door.

True, i would just like us to find a way to give Geno a shorter field, seems like we are backed up on the 20 almost every possession.

This D is only getting started... Soon our total dominance with our front 7 will mean our DBs will be glorified ball hawks.... Every opposition possession will end with a strip sack, QB fumble or INT

The JETS will soon confine the opposing teams punt and Kickoff teams to the role of spectators

McKnight is a KR. So we wouldn't be giving Geno shorter fields on kicks because 90% of the balls are not returned. We need a punt returner and that's not McKnight.

Yes I understand that, but on the 10% that are returned if we could get past the 20 we will be giving him a shorter field yes?

We need a punt returner not a kick off guy since 70% of kick offs these days are touch backs.

    Agreed.

I've noticed that there's always a 50/50 chance of a Punt Return but a kickoff is almost ALWAYS a Touchback.

So why did we sign Clyde Gates again over Braylon? Oh because he can do Special Teams? They could put Big Snacks and he could stand in the endzone letting the ball bounce for a touchback just as well as Clyde could.

Harrier thought it was funny. Maybe you lack a sense of humor?

Or maybe I'm just not funny.
