    Agreed

The first 8 or 9 seasons were comedy gold.

Then they went overboard with all of the current events crap and celebrity spoofing and the show took a huge nosedive.

Still, that happens to every show that's been on for an extended period of time. The Simpsons, South Park, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, etc.

    Yep.

It seems like 75 - 100 episodes is the best for a tv series. Anything after that just never seems the same.

Sunny is on the upward tick right now. The past two seasons were meh, but this season's been hilarious.

I am (was?) a huge Simpsons' fan, but don't watch anymore; not for years.

Same with South Park; hardly watch anymore. But, the Jennifer Lopez episode may have been the funniest thing on TV. Ever.

Great episode but the best south park ever did was the Scott Tenotman episode. Best episode of any show

Just so you know. Even though you don't watch the show, it has nothing to do with the town that you live/work in.

I've never watched Southpark. I live and work there.

Homeland is filmed here in Charlotte, in and around Southpark. that's on my list but NO Cartoons.

The neighborhood in which I live and work. I couldn't be happier.

No..I live and work in Southpark. I recognize the cartoon has nothing to do with my "hood". Just trying to have fun. Be kool.

They've had their moments in the past few years but it will always be hard for them to match the bar they set from season 3 or so until 10.

Scott Tenorman Must Die, Woodland Critter Christmas, Good Times with Weapons, the Butters episode so many great episodes.

Manbear pig was when they started to decline, for me anyways, and started making more episodes that relied on one or two jokes over and over. "I'm super cereal!', decapitated Britney Spears talking through her bloody neck stump and then the Lice episode.

I still love them but sometimes I get bummed over how it used to be so much better. The Brady scene was funny enough but I felt like they could have done something else with him that would have been funnier coming from Broncos fans.

    Truth.

I thought they might have been running into a wall after the past 2 seasons but this one is funny as hell

Yup. That's why South Park is usually so quick to satirize current topics. Though, I think they've cut back on that a little bit and have been able to sit on material a little longer than usual.

I think it's all the pop culture references and whatnot that have made the show worse. They still have their moments when they're hilarious. I thought the bit at the end of the Zimmerman episode where Cartman draws a personal space circle on the ground and invites Token into it and then shoots him and is all like "I'M STANDING MY GROUND!" was hilarious.

Love South Park. Although Family Guy kind of took some of my love for it. Funny to live in a town where
there is a show based on it. I didn't think Portland was that funny until Portlandia came out. And sometimes,
    I am like, Hey!

I agree with you about the one or two jokes format. It's like they are trying to get something to stick so it becomes a thing, like "they took errr jerrrbs" or "let me checkya azzhooleee"...I do miss the earlier seasons when the point being made was more subtle, now it's apparent nearly at the onset of each episode. It's kind of like the episode where they went at Family Guy for their episode formula and started doing the same thing.

Family Guy is what it is. South Park takes itself more seriously and though I do think they are the better show, Family Guy doesn't aspire to be more than farts and gay jokes. South Park often makes overt political commentary through satire so when they end up doing the same explosive diarrhea joke over and over it's more painful to me because they're capable of better. Brady settling into a big pile of diarrhea was pretty goddamn funny, though.

Also, my wife and I say 'time ta check yer azzhole' to each other quite regularly.

    Like I said, pure genius.

This discussion proves a point that I've been making to family and friends for a long time. The true genius in Hollyweird comes from the writing, not from the acting. You can teach acting to 8 year old kids. Not so with writing.
