Recent Qb history: Bad rookie year=Bust

Everyone brings up guys like Aikman who had miserable rookie years and became hall of fame Qbs. That really doesnt happen. The only rookie Qbs drafted in the 21st century who became good players after miserable rookie years were Matthew Stafford and Eli Manning. Look at everyone else: Flacco, Dalton, Cam, Luck, RG3, Wilson all great rookie years. Bradford and Tannehill had mediocre rookie years and look like mediocre QBs.

You forgot to mention Peyton Manning, who had a miserable rookie year.

Brees. Oh wait, he was awful. Peyton led the league in picks. Aaron Rogers didn't even play for 4 years. Geno isn't awful, he's inconsistent. He was drafted as a bit of a project.

Here's a question. Now that Matt Ryan doesn't have an all star cast around him how does he look? Who do the Jets have on offense?

Geno hasnt been awful. His completion percentage is good for a rookie, and his YPA is good. I think INTs are the most correctable.

Brees and Peyton were drafted a long time ago. Im talking about guys in the last 10 years. The game has changed and the transition is easier for College QBs to adjust. Matt Ryan is another guy that played great his rookie year. Bradford had nothing to work with his rookie year and put up better numbers than Geno--Scary that he turned out to be mediocre.

No excuses--Sam Bradford put up better rookie numbers with a worse supporting cast.

Stafford was bad his rookie year and had Calvin Johnson.

Geno has been ok and thats with the likes of Nelson, Salas, Gates, Cumberland, as some of his main targets.

Get Geno some better weapons next year and he will make a big jump.

Geno also plays his best in winning time and not is not something you can read on a stat sheet.

What the hec is the point of this bs history lesson? Uhh did it occur to you that most rookies in "history" did not even start their first yr so your right they couldn't have had bad rookie yrs? up until 2-3 yrs ago the trend was to sit them for atleast a yr, unless they were the once every few yrs blue chipper..

Yup. 7 picks in 2 games. But it is easy when you have weapons that can just play jump ball and make the QB look great -- i.e., Ryan, Stafford, etc.

I'd also like to know how he thinks Wilson, RG3 and Luck are proven year to year great QBs. They are in their second season!

Can you explain how you are distinguishing Flacco's and Luck 's rookie years as "great" and Bradford' s as mediocre?

Flacco and Bradford had almost identical td/INT ratio (14/12 vs. 18/15) and identical completion percentages. Flacco had a rating slightly higher due to a better ypa. Luck had td/INT ratio of 23/18 and a far lower completion percentage (54 percent vs. 60 for both Flacco and luck), but an identical QB rating to Bradford (76.5 vs 80.3 for Flacco)

Tannehill also had the same rating as Bradford and luck.
Furthermore, Matt Ryan had a pro bowl RB and WR at his disposal (white had 1,200 yards in his pre Matt Ryan season, Turner rushed for 1,700 yards).

Unquestionably Wilson had a great year last year.

Luck set the rookie passing yard record, and Flacco put up those stats, and led a deep playoff run. Bradford never took the next step, and Tannehill would be decent if he had any oline in front of him.

Tom Brady didn't impress anyone during his rookie year.

Geno looks good - much more polished than you should expect from a rookie picked in the 2nd round. Just be happy about your dumb team's bright-looking future you negative butt.
