    Remember When

Some of us (me) had to root for the Giants to beat the Pats in the Super Bowl? Twice.

What did so many of us say? "We need a pass rush!! Just do what the Giants do, keep drafting pass rushers!!" Then some of the SOJF cried "We only draft D-Lineman!! Boo Hoo"

Yesterday you saw why the Jets have been doing that. Corners can't cover WR forever. Some of these Tight Ends in the NFL can't be covered all the time. But when you kill the QB, you hit him and hit him, the whole passing games stops. When you control the Line of Scrimmage, the running games stops. I'm hoping that Coples is coming around after breaking his ankle, and in the last 7 games the Jets unleash the best 4 man pass rush in the NFL. The kind of rush that can stop/hinder any passing game. The way the rules are now, teams will get passing yards. But a true pass rush causes pressure, and pressure = negative plays and turnovers.

I wasn't mad that we drafted D linemen ... I was just upset we didn't draft a speed edge rusher on the outside at OLB. That was my only issue. We still need a OLB speed rusher I don't feel Coples is an edge rusher specialist. I like Coples a lot but I feel he's a DE with his hand on the ground. Richardson was one of the best 3 players of his draft class and the Jets had him #1 on their board. I'm good with the Richardson pick as long as moving Coples to OLB isn't hurting Coples. Coples did well against the Saints but he needs a couple more games like this before I say we drafted great the last 3 drafts. Richardson and Mo are excellent picks .. Coples pick is still questionable until further notice. What most fans were upset about was the Dee Milliner pick ... nobody here thought we needed another corner. I actually wanted Eric Reid ... but Dee is a talent you don't normally see every year. Honestly Dee is a freakish athlete. When the game slows down for him I believe he'll be one of the CB's in the game. We're a playmaking safety and a consistent OLB pass rusher away from being a legit Superbowl carrying defense.

Funny, I consider myself a proud SOJF (aka, Jets fan) and had been calling for pass rush since John Abraham left town in 2005. We ignored the DL and OLB positions throughout the Tannenbaum era and anyone who has followed the NFL for any length of time knows that the game is won and lost on the lines.

Dolphins only for me. Never root for the Giants and again other than the Fins want my conference to win.

I would not be surprised that whenever we draft in the first round, that will be a HIGH priority for this team. I don't think we will be in play for one of the top receivers, so if a edge rusher is available, and is ranked high enough for where we are drafting, he will be ours.

You lost me at "rooting for the Giants."

Meanwhile the Giants keep drafting offense (Pugh in first this year, randle/wilson in 1st and 2nd last year) and corners (prince in first in 2011) and look how they are doing.

I would much rather put up with my Giant friends then here about the Pats being 19-0 and the best team of all time.

The point was more, draft people who can rush the passer.

After watch the MNF game, I'd like to see us get a Brandon Marshall clone.

I remember seeing Sanchez relax on the side line after consecutive three-&-outs. Sitting on the bench chewing on his fingernails (or a hot dog). It was absolutely maddening! You never see elite QBs do that. They have the receiver corps gathered around a clip board or a play book planning their next move. Refreshing to see Geno have some work ethic. A little off topic but a good change none the less. I'm happy about the Geno pick even if not for the long term answer.

Tannenbaum's last 2 first round picks were DL. He also spent a third rounder on Ellis. Hard to say he ignored the DL

I meant specifically that he ignored the pass rush. But to your point, the man had 7 drafts and he waited until his last two to address the d-line at all. As for OLB, I'm still waiting.

I thought I wanted Pats over Giants in the first one until I saw Belichick, Harrison and the rest of the Patriot scumbags on the sidelines during the national anthem, then I rooted for neither until the Pats took the lead at the end, then I rooted for Eli and the Giants to beat those A-holes..and in the second one, I knew I preferred the lesser of 2 evils...Giants again...F New England always...
