2014- Sign a vet perhaps Cutler, and draft a QB

Next years draft is deeper at QB than the past draft, we need to draft a top flight QB that plys in a pro style offense and also sign a vet like Cutler to play while the rookie learns on the bench. worth a shot No?

No way the Bears let Cutler go. He'll be re-signed at all costs.

I say look for a QB in the 2nd/3rd round. Boyd, Carr, or Mettenberger will do

I said this in another thread, even if Chicago doesn't want Cutler they will tag him. Would you trade a 1st and 3rd to Chicago for Cutler and Marshall? I am assuming we could extend Marshall because 2014 is his last year.

It was just a trade scenario, I don't know how realistic it is. I dont think it's as crazy as you seem to think it is though. Cutler will be 30, coming off two injuries and there was talk that Chicago might let him go.

The reason Cutler will be available is he is going to be asking for way more then he is worth. I've said it in other threads unless Chicago is willing to make him the next 18+ mil man he is hitting FA. You have seen JAGS getting around 10 mil a year. Guys like Flynn and Kolb who didnt prove half as much as Cutler has. He is still young so if just one GM thinks he is good enough to win a SB your talking someone will offer him 16 mil a year. I hope we dont bid on him. Let him end up in like Cleveland or Oakland at that price. If he signs for under 14 mil a year he should find a new agent.

Agreed he will be asking for lots of money. But what was mentioned here in this thread overall is actually a good idea. We need to get a proven guy in here to run some semblence of an offense for at least 3 years then turn it over to a rookie...like a guy like Taj Boyd.

    BTW....DANGER ZONE!! love that show.

I'd take cutler over a lot of QBs in the league. I would sign him this offseason it he becomes available.

I can't even begin to imagine how much this fanbase would hate Cutler by the end of next season if we signed him. Turnover-prone QB, always has been. No thanks. I'd much rather draft another rookie then pay big money to a guy I know has an absolute ceiling of 12th-15th best QB in the league.

No way do I pay Cutler, an extremely inconsistent and injury prone QB, upwards of $18-20 million a year.

My ideal scenario right now would be to draft a playmaking receiver in the 1st round like Sammy Watkins then come back and grab a QB like McCarron in the 2nd. A very smart kid who doesn't turn the ball over and is highly touted as a student of the game and for his leadership qualities.

McCarron will probably never be in that "elite" class of QB's, but I could definitely see him developing into a pre-injury version of Pennington.

Really? He'd be the 1st competent QB we've had since Farve. There is no other position we're experience is so important. I've had enough of the drafted QB's we've had and that goes all the way back to Pennington who was the last drafted QB we hit it right on. Enough...sign the best veteran QB available next year so this franchise can move forward.
