Our last true offensive play maker....?

I was trying to remember the last time we had a real offensive playmaker….and I just couldn’t think of anyone. And when I say playmaker I mean in the simplest of terms that we could all understand.
When was the last time you considered drafting a Jets player in your fantasy draft, within the first 3-5 rounds. I honestly cannot think of one.

I went to fftoday.com which has historical preseason ranking back to 2006. I’ve listed the highest rated Jets player at each position with positional pre-season ranking listed…just look at these jags. From just a basic “would you draft them in fantasy football” perspective, our best offensive weapons over the last 8 years were Shonn Greene and Dustin Keller?

No you are wrong! Its Rexs fault and he should be fired! Stop with this logical reasoning.

The last truely great playmaker this team had wasnt even a starter. Leon Washington was the closest thing we had to a big time player. He wad a role player but every time he touched the ball he was a threat to score.

Braylon Edwards had his moments. He was a good deep threat and had some key catches.

He had some clutch catches that's for sure.

    This is the correct answer.

First of all, Wayne Chrebet was never a playmaker. He literally never had a season where he broke 1,100 yards, and only one season where he broke 1,000. Thomas Jones had back to back 1,300 yard seasons with the Jets. That should be something. Keyshawn Johnson was the last WR to have back to back 1,000 yard seasons with the Jets (and the only Jets WR to do it since the merger). Curtis Martin was a workhorse, but wasn't a "playmaker".

Wayne Chrebet always got open for 3rd down and caught everything that was catchable.
Santana Moss was good but got hurt and was traded.
Coles was good but got old.
Braylon had a few good years.
Farve made Keller look like a HOF TE.

Keller's rookie season was his least effective until his last year with the Jets, in no way did he look like a "HOF TE". While Chrebet was a 3rd down beast, he wasn't nearly the playmaker WRs that Coles or Moss were. If anything, the guy most like Chrebet since Chrebet was Cotchery, and now Kerley, both a solid WRs, but not "playmakers"

    I disagree with it all.

Last great Jets playmaker on offense was the rental Favre. Sad really.

    Coles was no slouch.

Thomas Jones was either # 1 or 2 in the AFC for rushing yards in a season.

LaDanian Tomlinson was very good for a year.

Braylon pre-injury and Holmes (before he got a contract extension and stopped caring) were good once upon a time.

You do not go deep in the playoffs, much less the AFC Championship game without any playmakers on offense.

Even the 2000 Ravens had Shannon Sharpe.

The 2010 offense had good playmaking ability when everyone was healthy. That was really the year to win it and they messed it up.
