TIER 3: Effective in the right role

    12. Knowshon Moreno, RB, Denver Broncos: We've yet to hear a peep on Moreno during the first week of free agency. That's hardly a surprise for a tailback best suited to a tandem role.
    13. Shaun Phillips, DE, Denver Broncos: Unlikely to be back in Denver following the DeMarcus Ware signing, Phillips might land in Nashville after the Titans lost out on LaMarr Woodley.
    14. Davin Joseph, G, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Joseph met with the Rams, but that position might be closed with the Rodger Saffold re-signing. There's always Miami.
    15. LeGarrette Blount, RB, New England Patriots: The late-season surge hasn't canceled out Blount's reputation as a one-dimensional back best suited to a power-running offense. The Patriots still seem like his best fit.
    16. Chris Clemons, S, Miami Dolphins: Clemons' market has been quiet, but he's now the best available at his position after a half-dozen safeties screamed off the board on the first day of free agency.
    17. Maurice Jones-Drew, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars: Running backs don't get paid. Aging running backs are forced to settle for table scraps. Will the Jets come calling?
    18. Travelle Wharton, G, Carolina Panthers: After stabilizing the Panthers' offensive line last season, Wharton is still contemplating joining Jordan Gross in retirement.
    19. Sidney Rice, WR, Seattle Seahawks: After losing Golden Tate to the Lions, the Seahawks are now interested in bringing back Rice at a lower salary, Rapoport reports.
    20. Santonio Holmes, WR, New York Jets: We're convinced Holmes will either bounce back with a new team or fall out of the league entirely by 2015. There's been no hint of interest since his release.
    21. Miles Austin, WR, Dallas Cowboys: Austin is only one year removed from catching 66 passes for 943 yards. Don't write him off just yet.
    22. Kevin Williams, DT, Minnesota Vikings: The six-time Pro Bowler can help out as a rotational lineman on a contender, but there are no reports of interest in his services.
    23. Anthony Spencer, DE, Dallas Cowboys: Spencer is a 30-year-old pass rusher coming off microfracture knee surgery. It's no surprise that the Redskins are the only team reported to be interested.
    24. Josh Freeman, QB, Minnesota Vikings: It's hardly a shock that Freeman has faced a cold market after torpedoing his value throughout 2013.
    25. Brian De La Puente, C, New Orleans Saints: The former journeyman is one of the candidatesto replace David Baas as the Giants' center.
    26. Carlos Rogers, CB, San Francisco 49ers: His best bet might be a return to the Redskins as a slot cornerback.
    27. Asante Samuel, CB, Atlanta Falcons: Now 33 and coming off a disappointing season plagued by injuries, Samuel wil have to wait for younger, safer cornerbacks to sign before he finds a suitor.
    28. Owen Daniels, TE, Houston Texans: Daniels could end up as Jermichael Finley's replacement in Green Bay or reunite with Gary Kubiak in Baltimore. He's also visiting the Redskins.
    29. Kenny Britt, WR, Tennessee Titans: Britt reportedly has four to five teams on his trail. They must be willing to overlook his 2013 game tape in favor of his pedigree. His first meeting is with old coach Jeff Fisher in St. Louis.
    30. Kendrick Lewis, S, Kansas City Chiefs: After starting 50 games over four years, Lewis might be forced to accept a backup gig in 2014.
    31. Alex Carrington, DE, Buffalo Bills: A scheme-versatile lineman still in his prime, Carrington is drawing interest from the Steelers, Rams and Browns.

Of these, I'd take Carlos Rogers, Moreno (much rather have him than MJD), Miles Austin (another player flying under the radar a little bit), and Owen Daniels.

I'm starting to think that the Jets might not have been convinced that DRC is motivated and committed to playing football and playing at the level he did last year. There are definitely a lot of risks involved with this guy. He recently spoke of retirement and turned down a very fair contract to stay with Denver and compete for another Super Bowl.

One thing that some people are not getting regarding cap room. You simply can't look at it as if it was a year by year number. They wonder why we can't step up on some of these players because we have 30 million or 20 or whatever but most of the top end guys are not signing a one year deal in which you can look at the cap number again and something different. These guys want 3 or 4 or more deals with a chunk of guanteed money, so if you sign DRC you are not looking at the Jets cap in 2014 only but for the next 3 or 4 years. To sign one of these top end guy syou bette be sure you want them for those 4 years, if you are uncertain you have to hedge your bets and make the best offer you can without committing yourself for too long.

with guys like Mo, Snacks and others in the future you can't shoot your load on maybe guys...DRC has moved around for a reason, can't overpay for someone who may not buy into the system

Absolutely 100% "dead on balls accurate." - My Cousin Vinny

Ro-Cro I don't think can be counted on as someone who is going to be worth 4 good seasons, especially how poorly he played in Philly, the retirement comment, and the fact that he didn't want to re-sign with a super bowl contender. I'm getting the impression that he is looking for one big quick pay day and coast.

Has the season begun yet, troll? Enjoy Revis for the next year. NE better win it all next season giving the org its first legit championship (assuming Belicheat doesn't cheat as usual). If not, the one year rental will shop his services again to the highest bidder and NE will be sh!t-out-of-luck. What a disaster NE will be in a short period of time.

When you think about it Revis playing the All Pro hired hand going to the highest bidder is a great way to get what he covets the most CASH..

True Savage. Unless of course he get's injured again. Also, by not taking the security a long term contract offers, his valus will eventually decrease. For example, not taking the deal with the Jets. While it may appear to be working (TB and NE), what will the market be for him next season. Not to mention he took a 25% cut from last season.

Anthony Spencer is set to visit the #Giants today, source says. Intriguing fit there.

Unless they want to keep him for 20 million next season.. His net worth before this year is between 15 and 20 million he can afford to play the hired gun till he retires.. Look at Deion (4 teams) and Rod Woodson (4 teams) Revis has 3 already and he's still under 30..

WR James Jones just told me he wants this known: "I would love the opportunity to play for the Carolina Panthers. I would love to play with Cam (Newton)."

@AriNissim: @adbrandt Player/Agent reneging, been there also, more w/ smaller agents, but Brandt is right if player is good enough TM will talk to again

@adbrandt: Re player/agent reneging on one deal/team to sign w/another, it happens, been there. Learned a deal's never a deal until signed.

@adbrandt: So frustrating. Can tell the agent "We'll never do business again" but reality is if he's got good players, unrealistic to say that.

@adbrandt: Yes, as my agent friends point out, teams play dirty on contracts also. Free agency does not come with an ethics/etiquette manual.
