Question raiders looking at mark sanchez ? ? ?

Two of the four veteran quarterbacks the Oakland Raiders plan to target in free agency are not yet free agents, although that is expected to change soon.

Matt Schaub of the Houston Texans tops the list, followed by the New York Jets' Mark Sanchez and current unrestricted free agents Josh Freeman and Michael Vick, in that order, according to a source.

Schaub and Sanchez are expected to be cut by their respective teams soon.

The Raiders currently have three quarterbacks on their roster in Terrelle Pryor, Matt McGloin and Trent Edwards. Coach Dennis Allen said he was not sure whether the team's quarterback of the future is in the locker room at this time.

Second that and convert him to wr though he might reject it. Big Big Buckeye fan and he's incredible athleticism. I would create Megatron out of him

I thought he played well last year...I'd keep him at qb (backup). That defense was terrible, no receiving options, and no run game until Jennings emerged... Only watched him a few times though

Of course they're looking at Sanchez. No doubt McKenzie makes him the highest paid QB in the league. Duh RaiDUHS !!

Mark Sanchez is the best available backup for the New York Jets. Therefore, we do care for him.

And practicing against our secondary will build his confidence immensely.

Was yesterday not a deadline that he had to be cut by, or else?

    March 25, I believe.

It makes sense for Idzik to wait until the last minute because if we wind up with no potential backup QB's left that are a good fit our best remaining option would be to renegotiate with Sanchez just before he hits the market. No incentive for us to let him go early.

He's no starter right now, everyone knows that.

But tell me what NFL backup that's available is more qualified than Mark Sanchez. You can't. He knows the playbook, he knows the personnel, he knows the coaches, he was a good soldier last year, he supported Geno, he wasn't a distraction. He's a good backup with some potential upside. And who knows- perhaps with a strong OC and a decent running game he can return to the form we saw when we went on a tear and were an elite AFC team for 2 seasons.

I hope he goes to the Raiders just so I can read the spin job 90210 puts on it.
