It's only a poor idea if he's not willing to get be in a RB committee and get paid as such. It seems like he's not considering he just got cut from the Titans where he was in a timeshare with Shonn Greene and was getting paid like a #1 back. He said he was unwilling to restructure his contract, which implies he thinks he deserves 8mm/year...that's absurd for a guy filling the role youv'e described; third down, change of pace back. If he's signing for market rate (3-4mm), I don't think anyone be opposed to the idea.
It doesn't matter if he thinks he's worth $8 million/year. He's not getting that from anyone.

I don't think Idzik is a bad GM, but the outcome of these pursuits is binary. You either get the player or you don't, regardless of whether you were short by $1 per year in your offer or if you were the 7th best offer. We saw the Jets make a late lob of their hat into the ring for DRC in terms of an offer after already having him in to visit. Again, it just didn't happen.
I'm very interested to see if the Jets apparent efforts to trade for CJ translate into the same effort to sign him as a FA.
Word UP my brother.
Sadly, DRC, or another top name CB is needed 5x more than CJ is needed on this Jets roster. I dont buy into the "Its a plan" theory. Instead, i think Idzik may have possibly been out GM'd.
