    Quinton Coples Weight Loss

I read somewhere. He had Loss a good amount of Weight. Looks more like a Linebacker this year IMO

Coples playing at 275 instead of 290 is a good thing for us. Rarely does extra weight help guys in the NFL outside of guards and DTs.

He is an ABSURD athlete at 290 lbs and at 275-280 I think will get that extra bit of quickness to really complement what we have on the interior of this defensive line.

QC makes the Jets front 7 even more of a tougher match up

Also, it demonstrates a commitment to improving and maker a bigger contribution, which can't be a bad thing.

QC can do whatever he wants to, but its the want to that is the issue sometimes.

My takeaway exactly - good point. This is the first step for Q to show that he wants to be a complete OLB.

if that was Cro in the pic I'd have thought it was a joke about him getting rid of one of his kids = losing weight!

Weight is not the issue with Coples---the issue was and has always been his ability to go hard on every play. The jury is still out on that.

Losing weight might help his motor

Totally agree. I know a lot of people on here got annoyed with Klecko's comments but he was right. I would take the word of a former NFL DT over any stupid reporter any day of the week!

    Absolutely. The quicker the better.

I remember Rex saying he was country boy strong. My take on that was he was born with awesome strength, he didn't get it from the weight room. If he loses more weight, he'll still be beastly strong

It's his motor that needs work not his weight. But this is a good start.

I am willing to cut Coples a little slack on the "motor" issue due to injury last year. He played fairly well towards the end of the season. The weight loss is a positive sign--coaches probably recommended it. Shows both sides are thinking OLB longer term.

    Clock is running tho.

That's Wilkerson's problem, too. Didn't stop him from becoming a good player.

personally i'm not impressed with strength, weight, speed etc etc. Make some plays FFs. I don't know but he better make some plays this year. idzik is watching and i don't think idzik cares if rex likes him or not.

Personally I am impressed with strength weight speed etc. I was also impressed with all the plays Q made the 2nd half of the year, including 5 sacks in the last 5 games, and how fast he learned to set the edge which he did well the entire year. 3 missed tackles overall.

Exactly. He's a good player when he wants to be, but lacks the will to win.
