Sal Palantonio Says He Thinks Jets Will Have The #1 Defense in The AFC on Lupica Show

He also noted that the Jets had a bottom 5 Offense last year and that if they have solved their WR problem with the talent brought on that they will win some games this year and make it fun for the fans...

Go Sal Pal... Lupica is still a Dope...

Yeah, but how many AFC Defenses are on the Lupica show? Not many, I'm guessing.

I don't see how there will be a better defense in the NFC.

I dunno....the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks are still pretty good, despite losing a couple of guys. As are the 49ers.

Sal Pal has always been a closet Jet fan.

He said we would make the AFCCG for the 3rd year in a row in 2011(we all know how that ended)

You could even see the amusement on his face during Bart Scott's rant.

Don't sleep on a healthy Pats defense

49ers lost their key guy (Bowman), Justin Smith is close to being done. They lost Whitner as well. Aldon Smith is a mess. I don't see them in the top 3.

The Seahawks have a great defense but that's mainly because offenses are being forced to throw the ball a lot very early. I don't think their defense is as good as most people think. Once your defense holds up vs their offense their defense gets in trouble as well and you can move the ball on them. That said, I think the Cardinals will have a very tough defense. The Broncos also added some great players and should be up there in the top 3-5 somewhere.

Defenses who have a good chance to be very good this year:

    NY Jets
    Seattle Seahawks
    San Francisco 49ers
    Arizona Cardinals
    Carolina Panthers
    Cincinnati Bengals
    Baltimore Ravens

Anyone car to venture other guesses?

Never sleep on the Steelers D as long as Dick Lebeau is there
Also, the Rams are a pretty hot pick to be a top defense

I think the Panthers offense is going to be so ineffective it'll wear down the will and stamina of their defense. Wouldn't be surprised if their D fell to middle of the pack by end of year.

As for a sleeper, what about the Saints? Byrd and Vaccaro is a terrifying safety combo, and I believe they added a CB or two in the draft. A Ryan defense always has a shot.

Rob Ryan defenses have finished 3rd (2006) and 4th (2013) in 10 seasons. The rest of the time they've finished 22nd or worse 6 times, and once 14th, and once 19th.
