Snyder Said to Be Selling Part of Skins

    By JOSEPH WHITE
    AP Sports Writer

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- The Washington Redskins ownership group led by Dan Snyder is selling about 20 percent of the team, according to a source within the NFL.

Three people who are close to Snyder will each buy a stake in the team, with the total purchase worth an estimated $200 million, according to the source who is familiar with the deal and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

The deal, first reported by The Washington Times, is pending before the NFL's finance committee and is expected to be completed in August.

Snyder will remain the majority owner and in charge of the team's operations. Snyder's mother and sister also own shares of the team, as does publishing executive Fred Drasner. Snyder's father, Gerald, was a part-owner before he died in May.

Real estate developer Mort Zuckerman was also in the ownership group when Snyder bought the team for $800 million in 1999. Zuckerman sold his shares in 2000, and it is essentially his former stake that is being sold to the new owners, according to the source.

What's next? The Redskins head to Di-Tech Mortgage for a Home Equity loan to help consolidate bills? Somebody.......needs some cash all of a sudden.

He paid less for the skins and the stadium than what woody paid just for the team. He is now selling 20% ownership for 200 mill. Maybe he is going to make a run at chad and abe

    PatMan.

I understand the point you were trying to make and I appreciate your interest in this site but it would be helpful to all of us if you used facts instead of fiction in making your point.

-Snyder bought the team & stadium for $800mm
-Johnson bought the Jets for $635mm.

Granted, Johnson paid the highest amount for a team without a stadium.

And now Champ Bailey is crowing he wants an 18 mil signing bonus, his reasoning being if Randy Moss gets that much, and he has to cover Randy Moss, he should get that much too....

He is clearly going to be elsewhere next year.....
