Through 3 trades I ended up receiving the following players:
R Moss, T Henry, F Taylor, W Green, T Hambrick, C Chambers
I traed away:
D McCallister, E James, K Robinson, O Gary, M Hasselbeck, K Barlow
Now I was trashed by my friend for letting Edge and Deuce get away, but here is my reasoning. NO is playing horrible football and they face all of the best D's for the entire year. They don't really have any 'easy' weeks in their schedule. Henry, while hurt last week, is on a much more prolific offense that can move the ball pretty well. Henry gets alot of TD's in that offense which is important in my league. The scoring system is 1 pt for every 25 yds ruching, and 6 for TD's. So a RB that rushes for 120 yds and 0 TD's gets less points that a RB who ran once but scored a TD.
Edge doesn't look any better than he did last year, and I don't trust Indy to give him the feature back role exclusively. I see them running alot of Rhodes and Mungro along with James, which limits James' touches. Taylor is an injury risk, but no more so in my eyes than James is. I figure it's a wash. I had to trade for Taylor because I gave up James in aquiring Moss. The trades were as follows:
McCallister, Barlow, Robinson
Henry, Hambrick, Chambers
Hambrick is an upgrade over Barlow in my opinion because he gets more carries. Chambers has been on fire so I'll call it a wash between him and Robinson.
Moss, W Green
E James, O Gary
Moss was just too good to pass up.
I needed a #2 RB on my roster as I have no faith in W Green. I have McNair who has been playing equally as well as hasselbeck. I lost depth at QB since Kitna will have to fill my bye week, but I still felt it was worth it.
All in all my roster went from:
TJ Duckett, K Barlow, M Bennett, M Shipp
K Robinson, J Galloway, M Boerigter
And my roster now:
W Green, T Hambrick, M Bennett, M Williams
C Chambers, J Galloway
I also traded Burress for Vanderjagt. I needed a kicker who was putting up points and Vinatieri was not that man. I know Burress was alot to give but I really had no need for him on my bench and felt I could really sure up my kicker.
Sorry for the novel, but do you guys think I did the right thing or am I nuts???
I think you did very, very well. Yeah - giving away Deuce and Edge is a risky call, but I think you have a very balanced squad right now and agree 100% with your reasoning regarding the way fantasy scoring is acheived...especially regarding Travis Henry. Not a ton of yards, but a ton of TDs for him.
You'll be tough week in and week out, assuming no injuries, of course. Some guys like having a QB-WR combo so they can double up on TDs...but IMO too much exposure to one offense can kill you because if Seattle gets shut down two positions suffer rather than one, so breaking up you Hasselbeck/Robinson duo isn't so bad. And you're right, McNair is the shiz-nit.
