Thread: Did the Red Sox tempt fate?

  1. #1
This isn't meant to be trash talk, but is something I am curious about.

No matter where you go in the New England area, you here about the "Curse of the Babe." Its been 85 years since they last won the World Series. Whether you believe in the curse or not, you feel that you need a break. So, how can the Red Sox organization authorize the painting of the World Series logo on the field at Fenway Park on the DAY OF GAME 7?!! Especially when the team you are playing in Game 7 has more than had your number for the last eighty years. They couldn't wait one day to do this?!! This reaks of tempting fate.

Actually, it was probably MLB that dictated to the Red Sox to get the field ready (including the logo).

Keep in mind that the day before the World Series the teams usually hold workouts and make the players available for the press.

The imprudent thing the sox did was to allow this logo to be photographed. They should have kept the whole thing under wraps.

It had to be done yesterday. Workouts for the World Series would've started today. Yesterday was the only day they could do it.

It's just the way they do things.

World Series tickets were printed long ago for all the teams, also.

    You gotta plan somewhat.

Okay, but keep this in mind. The Yankees would have been in the same boat. They now have to paint the World Series logo and hold workouts in the same day. MLB probably did authorize this (when given thought), but shouldn't they have simply done it immediately after (since the Yankees will now be forced to do the logo and workouts today)?
