"Jet coach Herman Edwards was an NFL defensive back and he's played with and coached some of the best.

"He's very, very athletic, big, strong, fast," Edwards said. "I've studied him a little bit and watched him play. He makes plays on the football, and he's a pretty good tackler. He's a big guy, a junior coming out, but he's got all the tools. He's going to be a very, very good free safety. If he works at it he can be one of the better safeties because he has the God-given talent. Coaches can't coach talent.""

Well maybe Herm can't Coach Talent but a Good Coach can!
What he should have said was a Coach can't give a player
the Type of God given talent and instinct that Taylor has! But
a Good Coach can surely teach a rookie how to apply it in
the NFL!! ;)

Imagine somebody analyzed every sentence you made.. think that'd get old? And with the same awful bbq comments afterwards... A coach can't hand somebody talent on a plate. not even off a bbq grill....
Give it a rest. Should support your coach as much as your team.. it's only logical. ;)

I'm sure what Herm meant to say was ... "You can't teach talent"

In that respect he is RIGHT ... talent is God Given ... either you have it or you don't

Another Hermophile heard from!! It's called free Speech! I
support the Team not individual people who I don't have faith
in!! I do support your right to say anything Great warranted or
not about your Hero Herm however! It doesn't bother me a bit!
And BTW don't complain that there's not enough Talent on the
Team because if there was, Herm couldn't Coach it anyway!!

How exactly can you coach talent?

You can coach talented players - yes. But that's not what he said.

He said you can't coach talent and you can't.

No amount of coaching can change a players talent.

AGREED

That's why some players go high in the draft ... that's why they are called BLUE CHIPPERS ... cause they have a wealth of God Given ability {i.e. talent} which cannot be taught

Technique you can learn, football intelligence is an aquired trait, hard work can maximize your talent, you can waste the talent you've been given if you wish, but you can only possess the talent you are born with

First off.. i said nothing about the talent on the jets.
Second.. I said nothing about free speech.
Third.. On what grounds can you say Herm Edwards is a bad coach?
Jump on another bandwagon savage.

First off CU you must be new What Band wagon are you
talking about?? I don't have faith in the way Herm Coaches!
You think he's Great fine..Are you saying I can't have a opinion?
Want to dig up Kotite's first 3 years as a Coach?? It was better
then Herms! So are you one of the first that will actually say that
based on his first 3 years Kotite was a good Coach?? ;)

Semantically Challenged.. No.
You can coach a player
You can coach a talented player
You can coach an untalented player
You can't coach "talent"

I'm talking about the "Herm's an awful coach" Bandwagon.

Although i'm not talkin about Kotite..
How can you say Herm is a bad Coach based on his first three years if you can't say Kotite is a good coach BASED on his first three years..

Where did i say anything about you not being able to have an opinion? You're bein' ridiculous now.

You can't coach talent or teach it. Talent is god given innate ability.

You can help a player reach the potential of their talent - what ever that may be.

That's all.
