he should still be in the mix at LB occassionally

we need to mix it up alot and take advantage of the personnel we have

I think we will see 3-4 lbs of Abe, Barton, Cowart, Hobson, Vilma all mixed in sporadically

What benefit do you guys see with the 3-4? I would think with the DL "ability" you would want to keep them on the field...JMO

There will be some different looks. To spell Barton sometimes Cowart may play some WLB (he knows the position and Vilma the middle. Vilma may play some WLB b/c of his quickness. The 4-3, I think we know what the line up will be. In nickel situations, we'll probably see some Vilma in there as well b/c of his speed.

Still, in our basic 4-3 set to start the game, I don't see him starting right away unless Cowart absolutely can't play the middle, which I don't see happening.

The 3-4 needs a stout NT in the middle. Evans is not suited for that. It would most likely be Fergesson or possible D-rob.

Jon Abe as LT
DRob as Sapp
Vilma as Ray Lewis
Ellis as Reg White
B Thomas as Situational Bruce Smith

honestly, may depend on the development of d-rob, and possibly B.T. (which wont happen), Buit if DEwayne can come out and be productive when herm lets him see the field, he may find his way on the field alot more often

IMO i think the 3-4 is VERY POSSIBLE!

Ellis at LE
Ferguson and D-Rob at NT
Evans at RE

LOLB - Abraham
ROLB - Vilma
ILB - Hobson Eric Barton can Play all positions
ILB - Cowart

Odd man out is bryan thomas... he can platoon if we switch back and forth to a 4-3.

Does anyone remember 2000 when we ran a 3-4?

Does anyone remember what Abes production was in the 6 games he played at OLB?

Didn't he have 5 sacks in 6 games as a rookie?

With Ellis having 8 sacks playing the end position, and Ferguson manning the NT position?

I think a 3-4 would fit the front seven very well when used occasionally

ELLIS
FERGUSON/DROB
EVANS/MATT WALTERS

BARTON
COWART
VILMA/HOBSON
JOHNNY ABE/BTHOMAS (PASS RUSHERS ONLY)

John Abraham rushing off the end in a 3-4 is practically impossible to stop
